Corn on the cob

This was inspired by the food habits poll, and I'm curious, how do you eat corn on the cob? Like, typewriter style, in circles around it, or other way? I eat it typewriter OCD style, there cannot be any corn left on there when I'm done. I also really dislike eating corn on the cob without those nifty corn holders, but I love it and will eat it no matter what. I never fully appreciated it before braces.

Re: Corn on the cob

  • circles for me. husband does typewriter. i can't believe we fell for eachother.
  • I do circles and I too hate the little corn things. I used to pull off all of the kernels and eat them individually too.
  • I agree!! I can't eat corn without those corn cob holders...especially the ones shaped like corn cobs!!  I do the same thing...typwriter style without leaving a single kernal.

  • I usually cut the corn off the cob.  But, I will eat it in a circle.
  • I scrape it off the cob.
  • "You know they call corn-on-the-cob, "corn-on-the-cob", but that's how it comes out of the ground. They should just call it corn, and every other type of corn, corn-off-the-cob. It's not like if someone cut off my arm they would call it "Mitch", and then re-attached it, and call it "Mitch-all-together"."/HedbergAlso, I do not eat corn on the cob at all. I stopped when I got braces and never ate it again.
On bed rest since Groundhog's Day and every day since has been exactly the same.

  • I cut it of the cob. My overbite makes it annoying to eat on the cobb
  • I don't like it on the cob, but when I do have it that way I eat it typewriter style.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Typewriter style..and I agree, i always have to have the little holder things.
  • Nice TJ :)The reason I'm asking is that DH eats corn like the freaking Tasmanian Devil. I mean random chunks taken off here and there just destroying the cob, so that it looks like an axe murderer got to it when he's done, and left half of the corn behind to warn others. I do not get it. I've never in my life seen anyone eat corn that way, it almost freaks me out.  I made fun of him so much the  last time we did it that he made a very concerted effort to eat it circle style, but there was still kernel mess entrails left all over it.

  • Ever since I had braces I hate earring corn on the cob. So I cut the corn off the cob.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

  • Circles!!!And always with the holders.  I don't like getting my hands icky.DH says typewriter.  shan, I don't know how we do it.

  • Typewriter style. And I hate eating it with the little holders on it. If I'm going to eat corn on the cob I'm going to get my hands dirty.

  • Sucrets - the sh!t we put up with... it's unbelievable.
  • I eat it typewriter style, always in 4 kernel high rows. It annoys me when there's a 5 kernel row left at the end... I'm never sure how to proceed

  • :)  Seriously though it weirds me out! I was hoping someone else did it that way so I could make him feel better about it. Apparently he's just a lone crazy corn killer.

  • I eat it in no discernible pattern. I will start eating across, and then around, and then across, and then back around. I leave patches here and there for my dog. He eats it like a typewriter.
  • typewriter.  Growing up, I also used to call it corn the cob

  • Typewriter style and I stop like a half inch from both ends. I'm a wasteful corn on the cob eater.

  • Typewriter, and with the holders, and usually the first bite or two is bigger (so I don't get my nose in the butter). I use an obscene amount of butter on it, too. I will occasionally microwave it, but most often boil it. I'm a good shucker. And. see, the braces thing.... I was so happy after 9 years IN braces, the first things I did were eat hard candy, chew bubble gum, eat an apple, and eat corn on the cob. Now that I'm in Iowa, I'm slowly turning into a corn snob. This IS the one vegetable FI will eat. There are about 3-4 weeks out of the year where it is really good- usually the end of July-mid August. We'll buy the shiit out of it, and cook it up/eat a ton of it. FSIL, FI and I cooked a dozen ears, and had 2 left over. I ate 1. No wait- I started a 2nd. They weren't all eaten; if they weren't good, they tossed 'em and got another.

Do not mess in the affairs of dinosaurs because you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • Tree - Have you ever eaten corn on the cob with Old Bay? It's SO GOOD with Old Bay.

  • I don't eat it any particular way. I just bite where the kernels are in no particular pattern. I just had some corn tonight as a matter of fact. Mmm.
