Allergic to makeup?

I have used mac makeup in the past but i started using it again about a month ago. About 2 weeks ago my eyes and all around them got red, dry, and started peeling. I stopped using the new stuff and it went away. I have been using the same makeup and its happening again. We have our e-pics on wed so im freaking out. Anyone else allergic to makeup or have any suggestions to get this to go away?

Re: Allergic to makeup?

  • I use Pears hypoallergenic face wash from Walgreens whenever I have skin issues.  I would just wash it and leave it alone.  Don't put on anything like lotion or makeup on it.  Leaving it be seems to clear things up the fastest.
  • I'm sensitive to several brands of makeup, though I usually don't have a problem with mac. There's nothing to be done about it, except stop using the offending product. You might try a moisturizing eye cream, though if you're in the middle of an allergy attack it might make things worse. I use a neutrogena under-eye moisturizer that I generally tolerate well. Makeup-wise, I do well with the Bare Minerals line.
  • Is it makeup from a few months ago or brand new?  Makeup can be a breeding ground for bacteria, so I'd try getting something new to see if you have the same reaction.

  • You should probably see your doctor for prescription eye drops. After it's clear, try Almay for eye makeup, one product at a time. It's the only mascara that I'm not allergic to. Good Luck.
