Re: Duds.

  • G'Mornin! How are things? Did kitty wake you up again? lol
  • G'mornin gals! I'm just butting in here, but I'm up excruciatingly early because of my evil cats. I really wish I was still sleeping. Are you working this morning, Dudley?
  • Yes, ma'am. Every Saturday I'm here 6am-Noon. Quick question.. what are all of these badges in everyones sigs? I want one =)
  • All the girls with computer skills made them last night. LVB and Mocha were making most of them. I suck, so they made mine. Did you see KA's post about the new badges?
  • We all made them. Look in Sucrets' planning bio for the original ones from TK and then make your own. No, kitties did not wake me up today. We have a meeting with my reception venue today and then going to look at a new (with 40 some days to go!) ceremony venue. Plus my mom is coming up for the weekend. I couldn't sleep.
  • Scoetto - I still laugh when I see yours. It reminds me of this time in college when my friends and I went to this club. I was in the bathroom and this girls was going off about how she would cut a b!tch. To further prove her point, she showed me the razor blade in her shoe. I was real nice to her after that.
  • Cew - Nope, I haven't seen that post. I'll have to go find it! I wasn't on at all yesterday because my brother is getting married today and I was crazy busy. And I'm going to be crazy busy today again. :-/Sco - Is it really that close?! I wish my wedding was closer. How come the venue for the ceremony is changing?
  • Yay for brother's wedding! When is your wedding dudley?
  • cew, that's a fantastic story. Was there razor blade in the sole of her shoe? I imagine it "Inspector Gadget" style. Go Go Gadget Razor Blade!Duds, it's because after trying to figure out the logistics of doing both there, it won't work unless I want to spend another $1500 at least. I guess I failed to realize this before. I don't want to pay the caterer extra to have people there set up earlier than needed, I don't want to pay for a tent outside, I don't want to pay for 80 more chairs for the ceremony. Maybe I'm being stupid and need to go make a pot roast. But I thought it would be easier to have the ceremony in a hotel ballroom (where the OOT guests are staying) and then move on to the venue (an historic house). It's only $300 vs $1500 plus. And for some reason, I'm being a baby about having a 3.5 hour reception instead of a 4 hour one (we could do the vows during the reception). I dunno.
  • Yes, exatly. She was like a ghetto version of inspector gadget.
  • June 12, 2010. 9 months from today! I'm going to be on the go constantly today. Get off at noon, gotta run home and take a quick shower, go get my hair done, drive 30 minutes to meet with my FSIL and the others bridesmaids, pictures @ 2:30, ceremony starts @ 4:30, and the reception doesn't end until midnight. I'm just exhausted thinking about all of it lol
  • Geez louise! That is a bunch of crap to fit into one day. What time does their reception start? I can't beleive the reception is going til midnight. What a long day!
  • Haha, you better not go make a pot roast! It sounds like that'll make it easier on your guests. I'm having a 4 hour reception now. It was supposed to be 5 hours, but we changed it. I'm glad we did.
  • What would make it easier? Having the ceremony at the hotel first? Here's the other thing. My Uncle is officiating and is flying in from IL to DC to do so. I don't want him working during the reception. And I want my guests to have a nice relaxing time. For some reason I think 3.5 hours would be too short but 4 hours would be just right. It's only a half hour. Not sure what my problem is.
  • Will there be a gap because they have to set up for the reception?
  • At the original venue? No. They need 2 full hours to set up, which is fine. No problem. I can do the ceremony outside if I want (while they are setting up) but I would need additional chairs and a tent if it rains. The tent is $700. A room at the hotel for however long I want it is only $350. The rental company isn't calling me back, no matter how many times I call, so I got frustrated and decided to book a room at the hotel instead. If it rains, well, we will be inside regardless. The kicker? This rental company is the only one in town with a tent that fits this particular venue. The tent size is special.
  • Yea, it sounds like having the ceremony at the hotel would make it easier. Do you have a lot of guests from OOT? Do you like the hotel better than your location right now?
  • I'm always a fan of the ceremony and reception being at the same site, but b/c of the cost difference, I'd go with the ceremony at the hotel.
  • I love the reception location! It's really awesome. It just seems it would be easier to have the ceremony at the hotel, where the guests are staying and where the after party will be. For some reason I'm less stressed about the logistics this way. A majority of our guests are OOT. We could have the ceremony at the hotel at 2ish and give the guests about an hour and a half or so to get to the reception venue (about 20 min away).
  • I also like the price! Thats some huge savings there! Hell that could pay for my honeymoon lol
  • Having it at the hotel would make the picture taking gap less noticeable too since the guests have to travel. The whole less stressful thing is a great selling point too.
  • Yea it is huge savings. My mom seems to be worried that I'm changing my mind "last minute". Ok, so I did, but due to logistics and a company not wanting to do business with me for some odd reason. It's not like I decided to change the whole thing. Just the ceremony location, where almost everyone will already be anyway...
  • I hated the picking the venue portion of my planning. It was, by far, the most stressful aspect. It also caused the biggest fight with my mom. I don't envy your  situation.
  • Thanks, cew. I'll let ya'll know how it plays out.
  • Okay. Here's an idea of how to pick:Have the hotel manager and the reception site manager do a cage match. Who ever wins, gets the ceremony. Do you think they would go for it? If you're not into violence, you could go with arm wrestling or a connect four tournament.
  • Ha! I've already picked. It's just getting everyone else on board. J doesn't care. J's mom doesn't care. My mom seems to be thinking "OMG! You can't make changes after the invites went out!!!!!11!!!!!1!!!". Yeah, ma. Sh!t happens.
  • Sorry I left for a few, ladies! I just had a bunch of sh!t fall on my lap at work that should have been taken care of yesterday and now I'm scrambling to get it all done. Dumb coworkers!!
  • ::GASP::How DARE you let work get in the way of knotting :P
  • I know, I know! But now I'm back! I just had to rearrange a bunch of vehicles. I used to make the rent-out schedule for vehicles, and they stopped having the secretary's make it this week and the person that used to make it, is making it again. And well I just found a bunch of mistakes and had to correct them all. I swear, what would they do without me!
  • Well look at you. You're awesome :P
