~Scoetto (and any other earlybirds)~

You up? How did it go with the venues yesterday?

Re: ~Scoetto (and any other earlybirds)~

  • I'm up and pretty annoyed about it. I did not go to sleep until after 2pm. It not like I was even knotting to keep me up.  I stopped at 9ish.  I just could not go to sleep.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Yuck. I'd be exhausted. I need a full 8 hours or I am a megabitch. But at least you live in paradise. :)
  • I'm an 8 hour sleeper also.  I really need to take a nap.  I have an afternoon of football that I really need to be refreshed for.

  • Naps are one of my favorite things in the world. I would definitely recommend one so you can be fully alert for football!
  • I'm up! Friends will be coming over in a couple hours for brunch and our apartment still looks like a tornado came through it. And instead of dealing with it I'm knotting and waiting for FI to wake up. Oops!
  • Good morning! I love brunch. What are you all having? BTW - I am so jealous of you getting to go to fashion shows. You are officially one of the coolest people I know.
  • I'm making corn muffins, chocolate croissants, eggs with mushrooms, scallions, fontina and truffle oil and, of course, bacon. Oh, and some fruit. FI really wants waffles too but I think that's too much food. Especially for someone who is already in daily danger of growing out of her wedding dress. Brunch is my favorite thing ever (besides sleeping). Don't be too jealous. This week was way cooler than my life normally is.
  • Your brunch sounds so fancy. I'm impressed. I'm a waffle house kinda girl :)
  • I'm up and reporting for Knot duty. Nothing fancy going on in my life, just another Sunday of doing my homework. Hopefully I will get enough done today to feel good about it by the end of the day. Currently I'm a little overwhelmed.

Wouldn't it be nice to live together in the kind of world where we belong?
  • I'm up... knotting while eating breakfast.  Then I need to make my grocery list and head for the gym.  I just joined one.  My plan is to use the pool this morning and spend the afternoon watching football (and probably knotting :))
  • ::salutes Sarah::What's making you feel overwhelmed?Good morning Loopy! Have fun working out. I wish I had your motivation.
  • It's just the sheer amount of reading I have to do for the three courses I'm taking this fall. I'm supposed to be arranging my life somehow so that in addition to all of the coursework, I can spend one day a week reading from my minor exam syllabus (exam is coming up in December). For the past two weekends, I have pretty much read every day Friday-Tuesday from morning until night, and I'm only barely keeping up with the course reading. Haven't done anything on my exam yet. If this keeps up, I don't see how I am going to be ready in December.

  • I've been unmotivated for a week now :), but we just got back from hiking/camping in New Hampshire last weekend so I probably needed a break after all the mountain climing.  We summitted 5 peaks in 6 days.  I'm going dress shopping in 5 weeks when my mom comes to town, so that's my current motivation :).
  • I hated reading from textbooks. I can read fun books, but textbooks made my eyes bleed.
  • I've been unmotivated for a week nowI've been unmotivated for a year. I suck.
  • Whether or not these books are fun kind of varies. I mean, I chose what my minor exam is going to be about, so I knew what I was going to get myself into, and I am interested in the issues and material of this field (Roman art). And sometimes it's fun when I'm reading something and I can really engage with what the author is doing and figure out why I agree/disagree. But yesterday I spent all day reading something that was essentially a list of different ways that Augustus was portrayed on monuments, and it was the most boring thing ever. 100 pages of no real argument.

  • I committed with a friend of mine to do the Susan G. Komen 3-day 60 mile walk in Cleveland next summer (beginning of August) so I'm hoping that will keep me somewhat motivated through most of the time left until my wedding, plus it's for a great cause too :)
  • Sarah - when do you graduate? Is this undergrad or graduate school?
  • Grad school. This is my last semester of Ph.D. coursework, and then I'll be taking my exams, the minor in December and the major next May. I can't really say when I'll be graduating, because it will basically depend on how long it takes to write my dissertation, and I've never written one of those before so I don't know how long it takes. :)

  • Well, GL with everything! I'd love to go to grad school, but it's just not in the cards for me right now.
  • I'm glad I'm doing it now when I can devote all my time to it. Plus, it gives me something to do while FI messes around with all that Olympic stuff.

  • That damn Olympic stuff! Wasn't he considering moving to where you are? What happened with that?
  • That's definitely still on the table. We're going to see how this season goes and how he feels by the end of it. Sometimes it seems like his mind is made up, other times not. It's a hard decision for him, so I'm just trying to be there for him either way.

  • Yes, I'd say that definitely qualifies as a tough decision.
  • Good morning!!! Been up since 7...ran and worked out.  Now I am tired again and might go back to sleep...

  • Good Morning tmm. Naps are great. FI is taking my son to an airshow around noon and I will most likely get one in at that time.
  • Up here as well. It's still early on the west coast, but FI and I were going to spend the day hiking around the mountain. However, seeing as how he's not up yet, we'll see if/when that happens. It's supposed to be like 80 and gorgeous today so I want to do more than veg on the couch and watch football... although we'll do some of that when we get back. :)
  • I love your dog.
  • OK, FI is up, packed lunch, and we're going up the mountain. I'm always amazed at how quickly guys get moving and ready to go. :) Have a great day, everyone!
