usher help

Hello! We are having 3 ushers. One of which is now in college, so in July he had gone to MW and put a $20 deposit down and reserved his tux. We are now thinking that ushers could wear suits instead of tuxs to help save on money for them. We hate that guys spend over a $100 on a tux they give back the next day. Do we just reimburse the $20 to the usher and let everyone know they can wear a black suit? Do we leave it and have them rent tuxs? What do you think? TIA

Re: usher help

  • I'd say do what you want regarding them wearing or not wearing a tux.  I would definitely reimburse him the $20.  I could see him possibly being annoyed that he was already fitted, but if they other ushers haven't done it yet they might all appreciate not having to cough up that cash.
  • Give him $20. I'm sure they will all be relieved that they don't have to rent tuxes.
  • Well it's really just up to you.  We decided to have our Ushers wear black suits and all three of them went out and bought new suits, so probably ended up spending more money than they would have renting a tux.  But they seemed happy about it, all saying they wanted or needed a new suit anyway, and at least they get to keep it and not have to return it.
