Anybody write their own vows?

If so, got any tips? I'm so sure that mine are going to sound lame compared to FI's b/c he's the funny writer in the couple that I've totally got writer's block.

i found vows online and combined and edited them until I liked how they sounded and so that they reflected our relationship.

We kind of wrote ours together. We said how many vows, what would be the first line, last line, and how many funny comments. We each included about 3 funny vows and about 6 serious ones and we started and ended with the same line.

ditto, its ok to copy someone else's idea if it fits with your relationship.  Find some things you like and piece them, then add a few from the heart.  Doesn't have to be funny unless you want it to be.  We repeated the same vows after we both put them together.

We wrote our own. DH is an amazing writer when it comes to his feelings (don't tell him I told you that  - wouldn't want to ruin his rep). He always writes me the most beautiful cards. I wasa bit intimidated by his writing abilities but I ended up just sitting up late one night and writing them.We weren't going to share them with one another but then the night before the wedding we decided to read them to each other before going to bed and they were perfect.I highly reccommend writing your own - beg borrow, and steal for other protions of the ceremony but make your vows personal. :)GL

I wrote some really mushy ones and then I realized the morning of the wedding that I would lose it if I said them outloud to him.  So, then I made some pretty generic ones.

Haha Mandy. I've wondered if the same thing would happen to me. I'll be sure to have some backup vows. I just wrote the first vow. I think we're going to do 3 "I love you because" vows and a "Because I love you" vow.
