Shower

Who in their right mind would show up to a bridal shower without even a card to say congrats or best wishes? My shower was yesterday. It got me to thinking if I would ever show up to a shower with NOTHING, not even a card. The answer would definately be no, I would be too embarrassed to show up with not even a card to say congrats to the bride.Would you ever show up empty handed to any sort of party/shower?

Re: Shower

  • I wouldn't show up empty handed to a shower no, but a regular party sure unless I was told to bring something like my own alcohol or something.

  • The only time I'd show up empty handed to a shower is if my gift was backordered. I've shown up empty handed to other functions though.  I often bring a hostess gift but sometimes the way the party is and / or how things are running for me, I'll make an appearance without anything.  That is rare for me though.
  • Two people didn't bring gifts to my shower. One was one of my best friends from college--she's notoriously absent minded, but she drove 3 hours to be with me, which meant way more to me than her bringing a gift. I didn't mind her forgetting a gift at all. The other was my sister who is also my MOH. She did nothing to help my other sisters/BMs plan the shower except bring a bag of ice. She decided to bring her 8 year old daughter/FG to a *lingerie* shower at the last minute without asking me or anyone else if it was OK. And she didn't bring a gift even though I know she was shopping at Old Navy a few days before and laying out at her pool tanning the day before. I was kinda pissy at her, but that's more complicated than not bringing a gift.
  • Yikes, I came up empty-handed to a shower.  The family is local but the bride is not.  The gift that I thought was being shipped to her mom's house, ended up going to the bride's house from their registry.  I sat there like an idiot.
