Book suggestions.

I just finished reading 'My Sisters Keeper' and 'The Tenth Circle" both by Jodi Picoult and am now looking into other books to read.I'm not picky about what genre I just want some suggestions because I really haven't been that into reading in the last 6 years and really have no clue what I like anymore.

Re: Book suggestions.

  • Well, in that case...I also just read "my sisters keeper' after I read 'then she found me' which was similar in genre but a much ligher read. I'm also reading Colin Powell's autobiography, Bob Woodward's The War Within and re-reading Catch-22. All of which are good. My very favorite books of all time are John Steinbeck's East of Eden, John Berendt's Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, and Love in the Time of Cholera, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. That covers a lot. HTH!
  • Jodi Picoults new book "handle with care" is great. If I am wanting something light after reading something heavy like Picoult I read Marian Keyes. HTH!
  • Most recently, I loved "Water for Elephants". I am having husband read it on our HM.

  • Edgar Sawtelle is a great read.  My new MIL gave it to me and I really enjoyed it.

  • I just finished Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson and One More Day by Mitch Alboum..both were very good.
  • I highly recommend Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson - very uplifting!
  • If you want something dark and thrilling, pick up Sharp Objects by Gillian Flyn.  Excellent read, I just ordered her new one, Dark Places. The Lovely Bones is a good one, by Alice Sebold.  The movie is coming out soon, but probably read it before you see the movie. If you want funny, pick up something from David Sedaris.  Naked and Me Talk Pretty One Day are some of my favorites by him.  Laugh out loud stuff. If you want suspense and historical fast-paced stuff - please pick up Devil in the White City by Erik Larson.  Such an amazing read.  Also try Sin in the Second City about a famous brothel in Chicago in the early 19th century - such a fast and excellent read.Lastly, if you want to get a little more heady but still be immensely entertained, pick up Freakonomics and anything by Malcolm Gladwell.  Blink. The Tipping Point and Outliers.  You will not be disappointed.
  • The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (and its sequel)
    Shana & Josh
