DIY B-Pics?

Im NOT thinking of doing this, Im just curious what the general opinion is. Yay or Nay for diy b-pics (boudoir)? Why?

I saw a girl make a post about this on the DIY board and how she did them herself. Personally, boudoir pics aren't for me, but for those who want them, I think if they are capable of DIYing, then I say go that route.

I am far too self-critical of my body to do DIY b-pics.  Plus, I'm not skilled enough in photoshop to edit them to the point that I would like them.If I even considered doing them, period, I'd leave it to the pros.

Im gonna say no, I would think for something like that you would want to look your best, and you arent necessarily going to get that with your tiny digital camera set on timer ontop of your dresser. Unless youre putting them on myspace, I dont see why youd do it yourself.

It's a bad idea to me. UNLESS you're a professional photog or have a lot of experience taking pics. I'm assuming this post was inspired by the chick on the GIS board.  She thought her siggy pic was awesome.  I'm going to have to disagree on that.  I asked FI if he thought it was a good pic and if it was sexy.  He said NO!

Bad bad idea.  There is something about the lighting and effects and posing that a professional photographer can do that a normal person never could.

I asked FI if he wanted me to do b-pics.  He told me he'd be too worried that someone would find them, and be embarassed.That being said, I don't know if I'd have the guts to go to a photographer to take them.  Not that they're not professional and used to that, but because I'm terribly shy and really insecure about my "figure" (or lack thereof).  And I can only imagine the terrible quality of the ones I would take.  So I should probably be thankful that FI doesn't want or expect them.

Reading fail. I did not do DIY b-pics. I thought you asked Yay or Nay to b-pics.Yay if you know how to pose, which most do not. It's easier for the photographer to see if you're posing something awkwardly. Or if you're arching your back to much, looking like a porn star.

Nevermind. I found it. reason 20239482348204234 to not do your own. Looks to me like she set the timer, ran really quick to the motorcycle, waited with a weird look on her face with a bad, rushed pose, but didn't quite make it because it's blurry. I feel bad saying that because doing B-pics is pretty ballsy and I'm all for them, but DIY b pics are just so not right.

that was an akward photo. it looked like it was probably taken in a garage and it was so blurry it could have been anyone... i cant see the rest being very good.still, good for her - she lost a bunch of weight and has the guts to do this for fi... i know i wouldnt. its hard to be that secure with yourself.

I'm not a big fan of overproduced, stylized photography in general (FI and I are going for a more natural look for our wedding) but I think that B-pics are the one exception. The whole point of doing them is to get pics of your body with that professional look. I mean, making DIY nudie pics of yourself for FI/DH is one thing, but don't call them b-pics, and certainly don't go sharing them on the interwebz (not that I think regular b-pics should be shared either).

I would not do them anyway, but if I were going to do them, I'd want to go to a professional who could guide me to what shots will properly hide my belly, saggy arms, and cottage cheese. Also, there is a fine line between tasteful and trashy when it comes to these and I'd really hate to cross it.

Okay, I went and found what you guys are talking about. Um. Nay. First of all, that pose isn't remotely flattering. The picture quality itself isn't good. But the look on her face is not sexy. Between that and the pose, it sort of looks like she should be on a toilet. Not trying to be mean, but someone should tell that poor girl before she shows them to her FI/H.

I don't want to say anything mean because she's obviously a pretty girl. I just don't think that's a flattering picture of her at all. But, if she thinks she looks good, I guess that's all that matters.

Ok now I have to go find this picture. And personally, no I think in general unless you are a professional photog, you should leave your b-pics to someone that is a professional photog.
