Oh bluesausage, did you have to?

I mean, you took narcissism to new heights in that thread.  And, since I've already typed this out, I think you need to see it.1.  No one cares how old you are or how educated you are.  It has zero to do with the topic at hand.  For the record, many people here are also older and highly educated.  If I give you a cookie for that, I have to give everyone a cookie.  I just don't have that many cookies.2.  Tubal ligations aren't easy to come by at a young age.  Most doctors won't even talk to you about them.  Even after having two children in her mid thirties, a close friend was required to really think about whether or not she wanted one.  I've tried discussing it with doctors and been told that it will not be done due to my age.  I suppose in the US anything is possible with enough money and since you're highly educated, I'm sure you have enough money.3.  Have you looked into residency requirements for European weddings?  I suspect not.  Note:  It isn't that easy to do.  Most European countries require at least 30 days of residency in the country before you can get married there.4.  I have zero sympathy for you.  I also wanted to elope, but in the end, I wasn't willing to disappoint and alienate my future in-laws for no good reason.  A little compromise (a great tool for marriage, BTW) and we're getting married without disappointing anyone, nor am I putting my FI into an awkward situation with his family. But, I outgrew my petulance when I was in my teens.

• It's probably a good thing she isn't going to reproduce. And wouldn't it be a hoot if their ceremony wasn't valid because they didn't meet the requirements?

• #2 is exactly what I was saying in my post. I can't even get some forms of birth control at my age and no child status, much less a tubal litigation.

• It's probably a good thing she isn't going to reproduce.I was thinking that too.  Can you imagine what kind of values she would teach her offspring?
• Well said, Moose. I thought about telling her that DH and I were 34 and 30 (respectively) when we got married, and we each have master's degrees, and yet we somehow still managed to be gracious to our wedding guests. And we were thrilled to have DH's twin niece and nephews as our ring bearer and flower girl. At a DW. Meaning that they traveled ;)
• I have zero sympathy for her situation.  As I said in the thread, I'm having a no-kids DW, and my MOH and my sister will both have infants.  I'd honestly prefer they'd leave the kids at home, but that's SO not my call to make, and they've been told that the babies are welcome.I don't think I've ever come across someone that hateful.  If I knew her IRL, I'd probably try to perform an exorcism.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
• Seriously if I was only inviting 8 people and one of them couldn't come I would think about rescheduling the whole shebang.

• It was 3 pages and very entertaining.  BUT, it was the meanest, most selfish thing I have ever seen on these boards.  And that is saying a lot.

• I'm not sure we're not just dealing with a troll with new material.  I don't think I can be quite cynical enough to think that someone that cartoonishly evil really exists.  I mean, christ, I'm not fond of children, but I don't turn into Cruella de Vil at the very mention of their presence.
