Oh, and that dress I posted also comes in up to a 3X.  Not that you have acknowledged it, but... that site has lots of dresses similar to what you're talking about in all kinds of sizes.

I like carrieoz's suggestion... if anything, it would probably be easier to add sleeves to a strapless dress than altering the straps the way you're thinking.

Now that I think of it, I don't think that site is fully functional yet. They are in transition. Use DollyCouture.net. Also, you can friend Dolly Thicke on FB and see TONS of adorable photos of real brides. All of her dresses are so cute.

I think it will look very matronly. JMO. I think when you try to cover too much, it is just noticeable and sometimes draws attention to exactly what you want to hide.I think you should leave the dress as-is, to be honest, and work out like crazy until the wedding to feel more confident,.
