Wow, there are a lot of you here!  I had no idea.  :)Somewhat related: many people think that the state abbreviation for Arkansas is AK.  When I was moving here they would ask about AK and I would have to tell them that I wasn't moving that far away!

sucrets, you had me confused for a minute. I was thinking, "She doesn't live in Alaska!" and then realized that you were just stating that there were a lot of them and you are indeed in Arkansas.

An extra "y'all" here and there never hurt anybody! Plus, you can totally get away with it in AR.

I have to admit, that confused me too.. At first I thought you thought that Arkansas was AK.. I've had a long day though.

The A states confuse people.  My parents live in Alabama and my dad & I ran a 5K in San Francisco last summer--it was a small, very local race.  When we were checking in, the race volunteer saw that my dad was from "AL" and said "wow, you came all the way from Alaska!"  um, no.

I have trouble, too.  People in my family always think Missouri is MI (Michigan) or MS (Mississippi).  It's MO, which isn't exactly intuitive, and there are a fuuckton of M states to confuse it with.  Sigh.

Ha! Sucrets had me confused too.  My first thought was "She's a teacher and doesn't know her own state's abbreviation?!?!?". Nevermind then :-)

I didn't realize I was so confusing!  Sorry!Brie - I will never forget MO because the musical Damn Yankees and the song Shoeless Joe from Hannibal, MO.Is it sad that most of the history and things I remember are from musicals?

fang - one day on my way home, I saw license plates from all 4 states that begin with A.  I thought it was neat!Darn states having confusing letters.  Someone should really rename them, lol.
