Wedding shower ideas---Help!

Hi Everyone, I'm a newlywed this year & am planning my sisters bridal shower which is at the end of October . I don't want to ask people I know for advice because then they'll get mad if I don't follow it so I need your help! :) What do you think of the idea of different types of jam as a wedding gift? There's a local farm for the disabled that produces honey & makes really good candy & all kinds of jam to raise money so I was going to buy 30+ jars & then put a nice bow & tag on it, but maybe this isn't a good shower gift since my sister & her fiance aren't associated with this farm in any way. Does that matter? & what do I put on the tag~~Congratulations, or their names & wedding date even though it isn't the actual wedding favor? I'm probably overthinking this but it's hard to plan all of this & work too! I'd love to hear about shower favors you've received & loved. I've been to so many showers but I only remember a few of the favors...my favorite was wild flower seeds but they never grew!

  • do you mean jams as a shower favor? Or you're going to give your sister jams as a shower gift?

  • Thanks, I meant shower gift!!! I'd love to see the look on my sister's face if I gave her 30 jars of jam for her wedding though! :)
  • I'm severely obsessed with jams and the such so I would be thrilled!

  • Hmmm...I'm not sure about that much jam as a gift...but it would make a cute favor. For my sister's bridal shower I did a small candy buffet that was a big hit. She wanted to do one for the wedding but it didn't wind up working out so I did it for her shower instead.

  • I think it's a great idea!

  • It sounds more like a favor than an actual shower gift.
  • It's a cute shower favor! Doesn't matter that it doesn't really have to do anything with them.On the tag, I would put something about the shower rather than the wedding date. It could read:Spreading good cheer for the bride-to-be! Congratulations EAG's SisterShower Date

  • You mean as a shower favor?  The way you wrote it, I can't tell if you mean this as their gift from you or as a shower favor for the shower guests.  If you mean a favor for the guests at the shower, yes I think it's a great idea.  The tag should say "Thank you" though as it's a favor for them attending the shower.

  • Sorry...I don't think I can edit my post without totally erasing it but I meant as a SHOWER FAVOR for the guests, one jar of jam each & they will get to pick from a bunch of different ones. :) Thanks for the feedback~~~you're all so helpful. Funny how I didn't want to ask people I know though....I think I have PTSD from all the wedding planning stress last year!
  • Ok, if it's a favor ... yes, I love it! Very cute idea that I would be very excited about if I was a guest.

  • That is a great favor idea. I would love it.
  • I would LOVE this as a favor!  Like Salt said, food is always good :).  I'd be pretty psyched with this (esp. if I got a Meyer Lemon jam!).I like the wording that Mrs. Vogt came up with.
  • I would love that if I was attending.  I don't ever remember getting a shower favor.  It is certainly a nice gesture.
