Re: Thoughts?

  • what about the fact that the kids were examined to see if they were abused. Poor kids! that must have been a terrible experience!
  • Seriously? My favorite picture of my brother is a naked bathtub picture!
  • In most areas, the distinction between naked family pictures and child porn is made by looking at the "focus" of the picture.  If it's like OOT (I think) mentioned--a few kids all sudsy in the tub, it's clearly not pornographic.  But if there is some focus on the genitals, or inappropriate contact, or something sexual, etc, then the line is crossed.Doesn't seem like the line has been crossed here.  It's unfortunate for the family.

  • The families attorney, Richard Treon, says the parents were cleared of all the charges after an investigation, which included examining all three of the children's genitals. Pretty sure this did more damage to the children than the bathtub pics. That is effed up.
  • Agreed, Shane, talk about overkill. Plus, getting taken away and not knowing why, and wondering why your parents LET strangers take you away, I can't imagine how those kids felt.
  • that is just depressing. One of my (numerous) jobs in life was the manager of a photo department at a local grocery store - we were quite busy and we were always told to use our own judgement. I developed a many a naked baby in tub picture, as did many of the other people that worked there - none of us ever thought anything of it. There is a clear line between "this is my one year old taking a bath" and "this is my collection of child porn that I'm dumb enough to take to the local grocery store/walmart to have developed". There are soooo many kids out there that are actually being abused and child services is wasting their time with this.
