HDTV box things from a while ago

...Since I'm always slow on the uptake, I'm just now wanting to get one of those TV box things that you need to get any channels now. Gossip Girl and Top Model are happening, and the new media players that the CW website uses sucks. If you bought one, how much was it? Did you get a good deal anywhere? We got the coupons forever ago, but they've expired.

Re: HDTV box things from a while ago

 •  I'm not sure what kind of box you're talking about, but we rent our HD box from the cable company.

 • Ah. I realized it's actually "DTV," or whatever the program change was that happened a few months ago. I've found some online, but I was hoping to see if anyone found one that was particularly good or a good deal. Thanks for replying!
 • Ah ok. Have you tried walmart? I know they carried them.

 • Sorry poli, I don't know much about them. FI and I looked at buying one off Amazon, but haven't done it yet.

 • A digital converter box. But if you have cable, you don't need it.
 • I thought unless your TV was outfitted for digital channels you had to have it? That's what our cable company told us, it basically just replaces the rabbit ears. Pay for the converter and you get the same free basic channels you got with rabbit ears.

 • You're totally right, it basically replaces the rabbit ears. FI and I watch TV so infrequently that we'd never really use cable. I was totally fine just watching those shows a few days later online, but the CW website's new video streamer is causing people all sorts of problems.
 • Poli, my new favorite place? www.ninjavideo.netJust open the NinjaVideo Helper and start enjoying :) Nebb turned me on to it so I could catch up on Army Wives.

 • If it's the thing we bought to make our older tv in our bedroom work they averaged about 40 bucks.  I wanted to get one for a tv in the basement to watch while I am on the treadmill and went to Wal Mart for one and they told me they quit carrying them?!  Radio Shack probably has them.
