Barefoot: Yes or No?

Hi ladies, I hope everyone is doing well. We have recently decided on having a beach wedding [ceremony]. I am currently debating on whether or not to go barefoot on the beach, for the actual ceremony. I'm not sure if we are going to have an aisle runner on the sand or not, but I figure somehow, some way, sand will end up in my shoes. So, I thought about going barefoot, and having my BMs go barefoot as well, just for the ceremony. Then, changing into shoes for the reception, which will not be on the actual beach.What do you think?TIA!

I would go barefoot for the beach and then put comfy shoes on for the receptions.

I think it is great for you.  I would give your girls the option.  Some people prefer flip flops or a sandal.

I'd definitely go sans shoes on the beach. Not only would it be annoying to have sand in your shoes but also hard to walk.

The sister-in-law of one of my BMs is a glass mosaic artist, and also designs jewelry. She is designing a crystal thing for her sister's wedding that will wrap around one of her toes. I'm doing a bad job of describing it, but it sounds beautiful. I thought about maybe having her make one of those for me, as well. My BM is supposed to send me a picture of the finished product.

Depends how far down on the beach it is. If its high enough where theres stuff besides just sand there I'd want shoes on...Maybe let your bm's make their own choice.

Good idea - agree with barefoot in the sand. My friend went barefoot through her church ceremony and no one knew. Until she told us afterward, of course.

I'd go barefoot.  You might have to wear flats for the reception or else the dress will be too short.

Yeah, I was already planning on wearing shoes with a heel no higher than 1.5 inches. That way, I'll still be about 3 inches shorter than my Fi.

Those pics sarah posted are called barefoot sandals, I think. They're NMS, but FYI if you wanted to Google them. I'd just go barefoot if it were me.

I also think I've finally also decided against a veil, and will just be wearing a crystal barrette or fresh flowers. I'm still back and forth about that though. I loved the bride's hair in the movie The Hangover, so I'm thinking that's the look I want to go for.

LOVE the barefoot sandal look. I think im going to steal this idea as well and also buy for my BMs

Love the flowers idea for your hair. My FSIL got married on the beach and wore a small birdcage veil to prevent the veil being blown around. Even that blew around a little with the wind though. Flowers give such a natural look to me.

You should check out the Destination Wedding board.  There's lots of discussion of beach weddings, footwear, veils and wind, OOT bags, etc.I'll be getting married barefoot on a beach, and slipping on sandals afterwards.  Not sure about the veil - if the wind is blowing the right way, it can be really pretty; if it's blowing your hair and the veil in your face, not so much.  Usually other beach brides recommend being prepared to switch sides with the groom, depending on the wind.

I would go barefoot all the way.  I HATE wearing shoes in the sand the sand flops up behind you, it's hard to walk.  Overall it's not comfortable.  This is coming from someone who walks on the beach daily.

before you decide, make sure the sand won't be too hot to walk on! I hate that at the beach!
