My BFF and MOH just received an evite to a "shotgun wedding" in Vegas.  It's insanely tacky.  Let me count the ways:1) She and this couple don't get along.  At all.  She pretty much hates them.2) Evite. 3) The bride is ktfu, and is flying to Vegas to get hitched when she is 7 months pregnant.4) This is the invite:     Bride and Groom would like to invite you to celebrate their shotgun wedding somewhere on the Vegas strip, on November 14, 2009.  We will meet in the Stratosphere Hotel lobby at 6, begin with dinner and drinks, then find a place to make it official.  All guests are welcome, cocktail attire requested.  We will be staying Thursday through Sunday at the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino for any who would like to begin celebrating early.   A respectable reception is to follow post-baby.

If I were their really close friends, I would find that invitation wording really funny.  If I didn't know them well or didn't like them, I would find it pretty tacky.  I think it's kind of funny.

I find parts of it funny:  the shotgun wedding reference, the fact that they've actually got nothing booked for the wedding (should be interesting...) and that a "respectable" reception will follow once the baby is born.Personally, I would've done vegas once the baby was born.  What's the point while pregnant.I also spent an equal amount of time staring at that with my mouth open thinking, "Really?  Wow.  Someone's gotta be P-R-O-U-D."

Personally, I would've done vegas once the baby was born. What's the point while pregnant.I was thinking the exact same thing.I guess what makes it funny/okay to me personally is that they are acknowledging that it's a shotgun wedding, that nothing is planned, and that they'll have a "respectable" reception later.  If they didn't acknowledge that stuff then it would be tacky and whatever, but since they did, they obviously know it's light-hearted and casual and the guests can accept knowing what they're getting themselves into.

Yep.  Light-hearted and casual.  While requesting that everyone attending wear cocktail attire. And she wanders around 7 months big.  In Vegas.  This reminds me of something.  Oh right!  It's like if Britney Spears combined her 2 weddings and baby birthin'!

See, I think the cocktail attire request is fine. How the hell else would I know how fancy the party was going to be if I was invited? It's not like they're saying "black tie" (inappropriate for the formality of the occasion) or "primary colors" or something obnoxious like that.

Eeeeexactly Moose.  Way too weird.  And for the person who said she shouldn't even be flying at 7months, you are exactly correct.  She has no business doing that.  It's such a weird situation, and I can guarantee you, that kid is going to be messed.up because its mom and dad are um... yeah.

I know I would not want to be in Vegas 7months prego...all the walking and everyone will want to stay out drinking.  It would be no fun!  I personally would not care if I were married before the baby was born, of course that would be the ideal situation but not a must.

Wow there just are not words. But ftr: you can fly up until you're 35 weeks pregnant depending on the airline I flew at around 7 months prego, it wasn't bad at all.
