Doctor Poll

Re: Doctor Poll

  • I take care of my vag way better than I take care of my teeth. I don't get lectured at the gyno. Ditto Cew.  I always used to feel like I was disappointing my dentist with my terrible teeth.  My gyno is never disappointed in my vag.
  • I say the dentist is the worst. I hate having to lay back with my mouth wide open while some strange man has his hands all up in there with a drill. Really? I read this and thing it doesn't sound so bad. What sounds worse? Laying back with my hoo-ha wide open while some strange woman has her hands all up in there.
  • I really think they key to eliminating anxiety is finding a great dr or dentist. Before I found my current dentist my stomach would be in knots the day before an appointment, same with my ob/gyn. They both have all female offices, and specialize in patients with anxiety issues. It's night and day for me compared to 5 years ago.

  • My gyno is never disappointed in my vag.hehe
  • This thread is giving me anxiety.  Dentist by far, and I've never even had a cavity (knock on wood).  They've done way worse things to my at the gyno and I'd rather go there, though I'm not a fan of any dentists/doctors in general.

  • Goheels...I would have lost it.  The word cervix makes me lightheaded.Missy...you definitely have a serious phobia.  Anyone that would pay the extra $500 is the real deal.  And front teeth are the easy ones:)Come to think of it, I even had a scary dentist when my tooth broke in half in Miami and I had to find a dentist to come in on a Sunday.  His drills were literally hanging from cords from the ceiling....1950s equipment.  And his jacket was blood stained.  The shot made me numb to the top of my forehead.  And I STILL liked it:)  And I have never had a particularly bad gyno.  I just hate it.

  • Sasha, I'm probably going to have to have the gum grafting done. There goes another $500...... (never mind the copay). I am fortunate I don't get many cavities. I don't go more than once a year. I just can't. I had to find a sedation dentist here. I went 7 years between appointments once. My parents are baffled, because I went all the time as a kid. It's developed over the years and just become full-blown. My mouth was like yours sort of -all kinds of problems, and they say it only takes one bad experience to trigger this kind of reaction - mine was a shot to the roof of my mouth. Braces for 9 years, 4 + oral surgeries.... yeah, I'm toast. I'm also kind of anxious/stressful generally too. I'm good, normally but once I get there, I'm on a roll..........................

Do not mess in the affairs of dinosaurs because you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • Well....I rellly hate to say this, but the gum grafting recovery was the hardest.  The stictches in your mouth for 2 weeks give you the worst breath on the planet and your face swells horribly.  But if you are sleeping, at least th procedure will be non traumatic.

  • Well, the dentist has made me cry and the gyno hasn't. I am more nervous about the gyno, but the when the dentist uses the electric toothbrush it makes me cry because I have very sensitive teeth. So, I guess the dentist is worse.

  • Denist by far.  I hate all the sounds and stuff. Plus my my jaw hurts so bad from being open I start to cry  I actually have to put on earphones on and close my eyes. The uncomfortable part of the gyno last only a few moments., a denist is 30 minutes of per hell.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • My first dentist was a really nice guy but he couldn't do novocaine for the life of him. I was about 12 and I went in to have a sealant(sp?) put onto one of my molars and he started drilling away saying I didn't need to be numb because he wasn't going anywhere near the nerve. I ended up slicicing the back of my hand on the bottom of his tools tray because he told me to raise my hand if I felt anything. I was in tears for hours. My mouth hurt so bad and my hand was all swollen from the force that I hit his tray. I have never been able to find a dentist I like and I've been to several. The one I have right now is better than the rest but still isn't that great.I also won't trust the reccomendations of my friends or family for dentists because the ones that I have been to that I have been reccomended to have been the worst.

  • Gyno is WAY worse. I just get incredibly embarrassed by that type of thing. No thank you.

  • Dentist. I have no problem with a gyno -- I'm typically in and out in a matter of minutes and nothing hurts. But at the dentist, I despise getting my teeth cleaned. I gag easily and the whole water spraying into my mouth thing is just torture. And I hate hate hate having that water anywhere on my face. And my teeth are sensitive so the whole thing hurts. It's one big UGH!
  • dentist scares me!!! gyno i dont mind, cuz if anythign hurts its only for a minute or two. dentist pain can last for days.
  • Dentist is far worse!  I need two xanax just to have my teeth cleaned.
  • Gyno. Gyno. GYNO!!!
  • Well, the dentist has made me cry and the gyno hasn't.^AgreeI hate the dentist and have been avoiding him...I need to go but I hate them. Everything is super sensitive and I have a very small mouth so even holding it open long enough for a cleaning leaves my jaw sore for days.Gyno is like, oh hi, lie back, pretend I'm not here, ok you're done.
