Sascha

Can you go into a little more depth of your gum graft? My DH is going in on the 8th to have this done and now its freaking him out. He had a crown and it broke about a month and a half before the wedding so they took it out put in the temporary and then 4 weeks later the bridge. Now the gums have receeded to their normal size and there is a huge gap between them and the bridge. It would cost him an arm and a leg to have a new bridge put in so he opted for the graft which is just under half the price of the later.

  • DENTAL PHOBES BEWARE!Mine was for gum tissue receding above a dental implant.  They gave me tons of novacaine all over the roof of the mouth, maybe a relaxant, can't remember.  They take a vertical slice up into the roof of your nouth and carve out a chunk of skin.  Then they SEW the chunk on the front of your gums with about a billion stitches that were bright turquoise and showed. And they collect all kinds of bacteria from not being able to brush that area so my breath was truly nauseating.I woke up and my lip felt like it was a good ten inches away from my face.  My daughter saw me and locked herself in her room laughing and telling me I looked like the Elephant Man.I technically need one more, but I am choosing to get a yearly restalyne injection in my lips so my smile isn't so gummy, then to go through that again. It hurt for a good week, but they gave me lots of drugs.  Not going to lie....it was my worst dental procedure.  But I went to work the second day, after the swelling went down.Maybe you shouldn't tell him...just say it's not so bad:)

  • He's debating on whether to just take friday off since his normal days off are thursday and saturday. The procedure will be thursday and then he will have friday and saturday to recooperate. Do you think that is enough time.

  • Is his job active?  I think 2 days is fine if he doesn't have to do anything strenuous.  He may be swollen a little, and very tender, but he should be well enough t work.

  • Oooh...ask him to ask his dentist what he thinks.  I am thinking maybe one extra day would be a good idea.
