Oh joy...

There are already police lining the perimeter of my building....apparently there was supposed to be a protest in the park across the street (that my company built). Should be a grand time coming to work the next few days, when there's already stuff going on and the G20 doesn't officially start til Thursday.  And we here that some protesters choose to throw bodily waste. Really? Greeeeaaaat....

  • What kind of protest *doesn't* the G20 draw?  You name it, it's there.
  • I have to deal with anti-abortion protestors almost everyday.  There is a Planned Parenthood next door.  At first they parked their cars in our lot, we would have to go out every day to tell them they can not park in our lot.  They finally got the hint and stopped that.  Then they started walking over to use our bathroom, which we didn't allow them to do.  So now we have a no public restroom sign up.
  • Good luck, Pirata.... sounds like I'd definitely be taking my lunch into work and not venturing out during the day until it was time to leave.Special people, real special...

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • Yeah.  Protesters.  Uggh.  PETA is pretty bad too.  I used to foxhunt when I was younger.  One day, PETA decided that an appropriate way to protest foxhunting was to break into the kennels and kill all of the foxhounds?!  The wildlife refuge that I volunteer at allows deer hunting to control the deer population.  One year PETA protested at the enterance to one of our wildlife festivals (you know, mostly children in attendance) with horribly graphic images of disembowled deer.  Completely inappropriate. And, on that note, one of my friends had a shirt that read "PETA - people for the eating of tasty animals."  We were out in DC one day and some dude comes up to him talking about PETA and what a great organization it was.  Friend let him talk for about 5-10 minutes and then said, "Dude.  Read the shirt."  It was quite funny.

  • What do the protestors really hope to achieve? It's not like the world leaders are gonna pull up in their limos, see some hippies throwing poo, get all scared and go home. That just makes the rest of us (Americans) look ignorant.
  • BB--you're right. People lock in on that 10% aspect and that's it. I am also pro-choice and have nothing against pro-lifers. My parents are very devout Catholics and are pro-life. I don't mock them for it, that's their belief. But I support the right to choose especially in certain situations (rape, incest, etc). We just don't have conversations about it. But you're right it's the fanaticism on any level with any group that gives everyone else a bad name. The preaching, the accusations. I don't think people realize that in all likelihood, most women who decide to have one don't make that choice lightly. ffmaid--that is a GREAT idea. I will totally do it if I have to enounter any protesters. I am not surprised that most people didn't know what it really is about. cacoffer--I could stay home with PTO, and if for some reason I can't get in the next few days I will get paid...BUT if I make it in, I will get comp days for next year, which I would rather have to be able to get things done for the wedding.
