1. What, if anything, do you HAVE to buy the name brand of?  Talking about food products.2. What do you think is a waste of $ to buy the name brand of?1. For us, we have to buy Hellman's mayo, Heinz Ketchup, Gulden's mustard, Daisy sour cream.  I'm sure there is a ton of other stuff, but condiments as a whole have to be name brand.2. Dairy stuff is usually a waste of $ for name brand.  Except sour cream.  For some reason I only like the Daisy brand.  Everything else, milk, butter, ricotta, etc is always store brand.

1. Not a food product, but toilet paper. Must be name brand. Also ketchup has to be Heinz. Pastas and pasta sauces don't have to be a specific name brand but can't be store brand or Prego. 2. Dairy on this one. I always get store brand milk and butter. Although I no longer get Harris Teeter brand shredded cheese after an incident that involved mold. Yeeeeaaaahhh that was icky.

1.  KD, Heinz ketchup, Jell-o pudding, campbell's/knorr soups, frozen pizzas.2.  Canned/frozen vegetables and fruits - store brand is just fine.

1. Butter, cereal, and ice cream2. Just about everything else. Our local stores have a really great all-natural store brand that is cheaper and better for you than a lot of the other products out there.

1. I buy name brand milk/dairy (I prefer it because I know where the cows are from and I know where its processed), I think thats about it. Im pretty easy and IMO id rather have an extra .50$ to use for something else. 2. In some regards yes, unless there is a drastic difference in ingredients, its probably the same. I just realized that the "no name" brand of food here, is actually a copyrighted brand or something along those lines. So no name is still a name brand.

1. I almost always buy name brand. I won't buy the Value-Time or anything. Jif pb is a must. 2. I don't usually buy name brand for dairy. Usually butter, ricotta, etc I buy store brand. But I try to buy as much organic as I can. But even my grocery store has their own organic brand.

I have to get name brand Oreos, Yoplait yogurt, and real Coke.  There are probably other things too.  The store brand is fine for most things, though.

I'm staying home sick and I'm bored, so I'll play!1. I HAVE to buy Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, Roberts or Blue Bunny milk, Yoplait, Roberts or Dannon yogurt (unless I get organic--any organic dairy is fine with me), Miracle Whip or Hellman's, and usually Progresso soup.  If Kroger is the store/generic brand, I will generally NOT buy it no matter what the product, as I have hated almost everything Kroger that I've eaten.2. Butter, most baking supplies (except spices) and most cereals are a waste of $ for name brand.

I buy store brand of a lot of things, but I also have specific name brands that I buy as well. 2. What do you think is a waste of $ to buy the name brand of? Sandwich bags, paper towels, bottled water, hamburger/hotdog buns, shredded cheese...I've started buying more store brand items, but I shop at Wal-Mart (all items for #2 I buy Wal-Mart brand), so it is still sort of a name brand because Wal-Mart owns America.

I did a blind taste test on tomato soup and I ended up giving campbell's soup the lowest score and the walmart store brand the highest score.  Pop Tarts have to be name brand!

1. I pretty much a condiment snob as well, except when it comes to mustard and relish.  I'll use store brands and not have an issue with it.  As a pp stated, I will not buy toilet paper other than Cottonelle and I only use Viva papertowels - they are the best! 2. Frozen veggies - I don't care.  Also milk.

Harris Teeter RULES! Even if you can call them Hairy Peter, heehee. To be fair it was just one incident with their store brand shredded cheese and they made up for it by replacing ALL of the ingredients for my ruined lasagna. They are a class act.

1. Gotta be sara lee turkey breast and heilmans real mayo and bounty paper towels 2. As for ceriel, I'm fine with apple dapples or crispy rice or fruity rice, just sucks cause the generic ceriel always come with some generic-ass stuff on the box to look at you know?

1. heinz ketchup, hellman's mayo, kraft dinner, campbell's soups (for eating... not for cooking), tostitos chips, salsa, soya sauce, crackers (vegetable thins, triscuits, etc), ice cream.  That's all I can think of.2. dairy i get the store brand except for one type of milk that i prefer (dairyland), so i'll buy it if that grocery store carries it, butter, dry pasta, eggs, canned vegetables, soups to cook with.

Well, we really do not have store brands down here.  I will always pick Kraft Mayo and Heinz Ketchup over other brands.  Sodas have to be name brands also.  I refuse to drink store brand sodas.Everything else would be considered name brands because that's all that is offered.  But I do not have to buy a certain brand.

Heinz Ketchup, Kellogs Frosted Flakes (the store brand here tastes like sugar covered cardboard), Balsamic vinegar, though I can't remember the brand, I know the bottle, and it must be that one... for DH, Oreos2. Butter, cheese, yogurt (this depends but for the most part), I used to LOVE tropicana orange juice, but here you can get freh squeezed for $1 vs. $4 Tropicana, and it's oh so much better, so not sue if that dounts as store brand?

Also, not food, but toilet paper and paper towels. Just not worth the savings. Trash bags as well.2. What do you think is a waste of $ to buy the name brand of?I will not buy the name brand if the generic is cheaper and comparable. Most cereals are fine in those big plastic bags, frozen vegetables... anything, really. Buddy is averse to generic brands, so we have a rule. We try the generic once. If it is not distinguishable or is as good as the name brand, we do not buy the name brand any more. Same goes for low fat and fat free versions of foods as well.I see no reason to spend more money or eat more fat for the same taste/quality.

1.  Everything except most dairy.  I am craptasically picky when it comes to food.  2.  Dairy.  All milk, cheese, eggs, etc...it all tastes the same to me.  The only dairy items that I'm picky about are sour cream and ice cream.

Dairy products.  My dad works for Prairie Farms.  I feel like I should.2. toiletries.  I used to always get super cheap shampoo from my hair dresser, so I always had fancy shampoo, but recently she moved and I can't bring myself to spend $20 on shampoo.  I just bought the generic pantene and I can't tell a difference in my hair.  It feels the same as before.
