Plus-size dress shopping

Does anybody have any tips on stores to go to when seeking a plus-sized bridal gown?  Any tips in NYC or northern Jersey will work.  Thanks!

Kleinfeld's and David's Bridal both had a great selection of plus size gowns.  I ended up buying my gown at Kleinfeld's largely because I could actually see how various styles actually looked on me, and I didn't have to cram myself into sample sizes.

Kleinfeld's had a terrible selection, in my opinion.  But maybe b/c I was looking for something a little vintage-y, I was just too limited in what I wanted, and they had very little for me to try on.  The place I found a ton of samples that I could actually put on my body was RK Bridal.  The place is a little crazy and you can't make an appt. (I'd go on a weekday, around when they open and bring a friend), but they have tons of really nice gowns that real-size women can actually try on.  Strange but true.  Good luck!

I agree with Maureen on Kleinfeld's lots of large sizes to try.  I actually got my dress there as well.

I know David's Bridal has a lot of sizes. 2 of the dresses I tried on were plus size because they didnt have them in my size.

I second RK bridal. They had a much larger selection of plus-size dresses than I'd seen in other stores. And you can walk in and pull things off the rack yourself.

Kleinfeld's does have a lot of plus-size dresses. I tried a bunch there, but I didn't like anything. I ended up buying a Melissa Sweet dress from the Saks bridal dept. I chose a silhoutte that I know flatters my figure, and they pinned it to me, so I could get an idea of how it would look on me in my size. (The sample was an 8 and I'm a street size 18.)

I tried the dress on at Priscilla of Boston, but they we're particularly accomodating about my size, which is why I went to Saks and bought the dress there.
