Time off before the wedding

Hi! Just wondering how many days you took off or plan to take off before the wedding. I need to schedule the time off now and was thinking of taking three days (wed, thurs, fri) for any last minute things. Is this enough or too much? Thanks in advance, Mariah

Re: Time off before the wedding

  • I'm taking 3 days off...but I'll also have a full house so it's not like they'll be relaxing. :)

  • I'm just taking Thursday-Friday
  • The wedding was on a friday and I took off Wed/Thurs/Fri for the wedding. I also worked 50 hour weeks though so I needed that time to just catch up on sleep.
  • Fi is taking a week.  I'll probably just take Friday.

  • Thanks for the feedback!
  • I'm probably taking off the whole week, but that is only because my old college roomie (BM) will be coming all the way from California and I want to spend time with her.
  • I was only going to take 3 days but ended up getting the entire week. VERY glad I had all that time too, there was an amazing amount of last minute things I never thought of earlier.
    kablah.....that is all.
  • I'm only taking one day off, if that. I'm not sure what type of days I'll be given since I'll (hopefully) be a new teacher. I don't see any reason for more than that.

  • I was going to take a couple days off, but I've decided against it. Whatever it is that isn't done by the week before just isn't going to get done. I figured I'll be a crazy wreck if I'm running around at the last minute trying to tie up loose ends. I overthink things though, so I need to have work to distract me and keep me from stressing myself into an anxiety attack, YMMV

  • I am taking off Thurs. and Fri. before a Sat. wedding. My principal (im a teacher) was like, you should take off Monday too. We are not taking a honeymoon, but I HATE writing sub plans. Any fellow teachers feel the same?? It's sad when you'd rather stay at work then take off isn't it??

  • My wedding is Thanksgiving weekend so I'm taking wednesday-friday. I already had thursday off because of the holiday. Fiance gets thursday and friday because of the holiday so it worked out.

  • I only took off the Friday before my Saturday morning wedding.  No regrets.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • I'm taking off Wed-Fri, but they're full of work and parties. I have an English tea on Wednesday when I get to meet all my new family members, then the tent arrives Thursday and all hell breaks loose trying to decorate it, then Friday is rehearsal/dinner. All that and I don't even get a honeymoon to relax and rest. FML.
  • I was only going to take off 3 days but when it came down to it, I took the whole work week off. I thought I had pletny of time to tie up loose ends, but I was still stuggling to get it all done in a week.
  • I took off the week before. Mon-Tues: Finish all final DIY projectsWed-Thurs: Visit with family & friends coming in from out-of-state/countryFriday: Final prep and rehearsalIt was nice an relaxing, unlike the weeks prior. H and I also had some dates thrown in during the week just to be in each other's company before it got crazy.
  • Thur/Fri are my days off, so I took off the Sat before the wedding on Sun.

  • I took off Thursday and Friday before our wedding.
  • Fi is just taking off the friday before we get married (our wedding is on a Sunday) - I don't have to deal with it because I stopped working a few months ago.  I would think a couple days prior will be good especially to deal with any last minute stuff, out of town relatives/friends, etc.
  • My wedding is on Friday.  I'm taking that day off.  My company won't allow me any more time off w/ pay.
  • Ours is a DW on a Saturday, we leave on a Thursday.  I plan to take the 3 weeks off if possible around the wedding; few days before we leave, week of the trip, then the week and a half after we get back so I can set up for the AHR.At least that's the plan, it'll probably never work though.
  • I am taking pretty much the whole week off before the wedding to finish up DIY projects and hang out with OOT guests when they come up on the weekend.
  • I took Wed/Thurs/Fri off for our Saturday wedding.
  • We're having our wedding in the town where we grew up, not where we live currently, so both FI and I are talking the week off beforehand for last minute things and visiting with family and such.

  • I'm thinking a week off prior to deal with last minute stuff and to host a whole household of out of town family....then 2 weeks off after, for a 10 day honeymoon and a few days to relax before going back. As my wedding is in 14 months, I plan on "banking" some time off from 2010 to use in 2011.
  • I took three days off before my wedding for any last minute things and generally to relax and not feel rushed the day before the wedding.  So I would highly recommend it!  During that time I even took a few hours to go get a facial and massage!  I think you will be a much happier bride if you do that have everything organized and ready to go for the big day!  Congrats and enjoy! :)
  • I'm getting married this Satufday, and am taking off Wed-Fri.  I contemplated taking less time, but now that it's here, I'm glad I'll have a couple days to unwind and relax.  Plus, I'll have time to finish the little last minute things that have somehow crept up!
  • I am planning on taking off a week, not just to finish off little details, but to relax and enjoy out of towners
  • I will probably take off half of Wednesday, and then Thursday, and Friday off completely.. My rehersal dinner is the Wednesday before my wedding
