Re: weird phobias.

  • FI is afraid of mixing food textures. He refuses to eat stuff like ice cream with chocolate chips mixed in, or brownies with nuts, because whenever he bites into something soft and hits something hard he freaks out and thinks it's a bug.

  • I am absolutely petrified of mice.
  • mandy - my DH fell in a manhole walking down the street.  The cover actually broke as he stepped on it.  Fortunately it was winter and he had on a big poofy jacket and he caught himself with his elbows.  The irony is . . . he works for the city utility company.

  • I don't like grates either, bf always laughs at me when I make a point to walk around them. Even Tootsie, my bulldog will walk around them. lol
  • I won't drive behind a truck or other vehicle with a ladder attached to the top.  I learned this from my grandma, who told me it was b/c she didn't want to be decapitated by an imprperly attached ladder.  This has expanded for me to not driving behind trucks hauling logs.
  • daff my cat is scared of all those things. haha. meow. I should add, it's only bridges over water. I'm scared they'll collapse and I'll get stuck in my car and drown while trying to get out my car as it sinks. get your windows open before you hit the water.  if for some reason you can't, wait until your car fills up with water before you try to open the windows.  though that might not work with power windows.
  • I actually open my window before I go over bridges.  FI used to laugh at me, now he doesn't even notice.

  • bees and belly buttons.the idea of a something in a belly button grosses me out to no end.like, wanting to barf grossing me out...i watch this nerd program called attack of the show and they featured a video about belly button fetishes and i thought i was going to die. i made the H turn it off.
  • i became aware of furries a couple of months ago.  they have forums.  i don't think i get it.
  • One of my friends gets really freaked out when her nails get long enough to see the "white part". So she'll always keep her nails really short, and she thinks french manicures are gross. This is me too.  My other big phobia, which I've mentioned before, is a fear of high ceilings.  If I were to walk into the Capitol, I'd curl up into a little ball and want to die.
  • the idea of a something in a belly button grosses me out to no end.like, wanting to barf grossing me out...This. I can't even stand to clean out my belly button in the shower
  • when my husband and i first got together he thought it was funny to poke me in the belly button.i thought i was going to die. he figured out pretty quickly that it is not funny. at all.
  • I always ask Mike to remind me what to do if we ever drove into a large body of water.  Almost every time we drive over a bridge.  I can never remember if you wait to open the window or if you just do it right away.

  • I'm totally creeped out by standing cold water - i.e water that splashes out of the kitchen sink on to the counter and just sits there - I just imagine it being full of germs. I try to stay away from cold water in most of its forms actually - aside from drinking it, and even that has to be refrigerated before I stop worrying about the germs in it. I also hate/am scared of clowns - they are completely unnatural.
  • Repetitive motions. I can't do anything that requires me to constantly click or move -it makes me twitch and freak out
  • Well, your H would totally hate being me. I can often feel my pulse in my wrists/neck/stomach (bizarrely enough, if I lay down you can even see it in my stomach. Really odd). That said, I'm also a psychologist. I can understand why he'd feel it was gross, however for him to get over it the issue is more about gradual exposure. He needs to get used to having something loose on his arm for a period of time, become ok with that (eg. not have a lot of extra anxiety), and slowly try tighter things. A CBT psychologist could easily prepare a treatment schedule for him around that and probably have him out of the phobia in a short amount of time.
  • TheSun- I can see mine in my stomach too and if I sit with my chair pushed into a desk my pulse in my stomach will push me back from the desk
  • I cannot stand hearing a heartbeat. Any heartbeat. The same with feeling my pulse. My palms start to sweat and I get shaky. So your husband is not alone on that. Also, I'm terrified of dying from a blood clot or brain aneurysm. The most random thing in the world. Whenever a limb starts to hurt or swell or I get dizzy, I'm absolutely convinced I've got a clot or am about to have an aneurysm and Noodle has to calm me down. Noodle is deathly afraid of clowns. I like to change our computer background every now and then to a big picture of It or a scary clown, and then listen to him freak out from the bedroom because I'm a bad person.

If I wanted to hear the pitter-patter of little feet, I'd put shoes on the cat. image

  • Haha nugget, because I can always feel my pulse I am constantly thinking the same thing- I'm about to have a stroke and die! So ridiculous. And roxy, I'm glad I'm not the only one! I remember showing my friends and highschool once (by accident, we were laying down and someone noticed that my stomach was pulsating, haha) and them all thinking it was super freaky.
  • T and I joke that it looks like a baby kicking or something. Its very odd
  • *friends at highschool. I didn't show the whole h/s, haha. And yes, it is totally odd.
  • I'm a little late on this, but i have a huge phobia of multi-colored elephants. I have no idea why. I can't ever get through Dumbo becaus he gets drunk and starts hallucinating. It really sucks when I go to Farminton MO, for any one who is familure because there is a car dealership with multiple locations and i guess their mascot or something is multicolored elephants so there are statues of them all over across the highway. My FI had to do all the driving because I cna't handle it.
  • I have an IT induced phobia as well- balloons. I totally hate balloons, especially helium filled balloons. They follow me around the house, I swear. My Dad let me watch horror films all the time and IT is the first film I remember.

  • I'm terrified of upper class neighborhoods... AND I LIVE IN CONNECTICUT. Hello?
  • I'm terrified of being locked in a dark place - I'm totally freaked out by being in the dark, and being alone. I also don't like to have any limbs sticking out from under the covers at night while I sleep...something WILL grab them...haha. I used to sleep completly covered from head to toe when I was younger - and actually if I'm sleeping alone (which is rare, b/c I lived with fi) then I still do :)
