The balloon people went on Larry King.  The boy said he didn't come out of his hiding place because they were doing it for a show.  It was all a hoax.

The interviewer asked if he heard anyone calling and if he did, why didn't he come out.  The kid said, "Umm...you said we were doing this for the show."  His dad then muttered "oh man."

They didn't ground the planes, just re-directed them.  They did indeed send out the National Guard, though, and a local news helicopter helped the police.

When asked by his father on-air why he didn't respond, the boy replied, "You guys said we did this for the show." When the father was pressed by Wolf Blitzer, who was filling in for King, to explain what his son meant, he became uncomfortable, finally saying he was "appalled" by the questions, and then adding that Falcon was likely referring to all the media coverage.

I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have kids yet, because I saw this story and was like, "hey, I would have loved a surprise hot air balloon ride as a kid!  Awesome!"Beyond that, I don't care.  It all sounds dumb.

Well, there's a demonstration on why not to use your child for media attention. Anyway, Oprah's favourite things just came on, and I cannot stay here any longer without risking throwing up over the ridiculous amount of screaming coming from that audience over free stuff. Happy materialistic USA! On that note, I'm going shopping.

Me, too. There's only two possibilities - child endangerment because they weren't supervising him/putting him in a dangerous situation, or they are basically using him as a prop.Lose lose for the kid. Parenting FAIL for dad.

I was just reading an article where the father 'angrily denied' that it was set up. oh i bet he reacted with anger. no matter how this may have turned out, he would have reacted with anger.  i have never witnessed such a mean, cruel, nasty person as him. sickening.  and if you look at the pictures, that little stinkfuck has mischief written all over his jerky face.i hope they get what's coming to them.

They did ground all planes taking off from the north at Denver International Airport for about 15 minutes. Before that, they just rerouted them, but the balloon got within a few miles of the airport, so they decided to play it safe.I HATE people who exploit their kids. And I live in LA. I would never let my child act, sing, be in a pageant, anything.

I can hear the parents nowI was thinking it's either that or the kid is really nervous because they laid into him for what he said on Larry King yesterday, so now he's really nervous about being on the news and talking at all.For the record, I did not watch the video.  I heard the audio on Opie and Anthony this morning, and even that made me a bit queasy.  I don't deal well with vomit.
