  • I've been craving it.  We made a fantastic bourbon glazed ham for the family Christmas party last year.  It was the awesome.

  • OMG thank you! I am now officially ready to board the "Alix is awesome" train!
  • Pork Chops with broccoli cheddar rice.  And I made the Pumpkin Gooey Cake that one of you ladies recommended last week (sorry I don't remember who it was - that cake is amazing).

  • Ew.  Pecans.  Sorry, nuts don't belong in baking.  Ever.EVER.Not even in pecan pie.Peanut butter cookies, however, are fine.  Because there is no nuts, just peanut butter.  Mmmm peanut butter.NO NUTS!

  • How can you not like nuts?! Fischy and her blue ball are going to be so disappointed...What about like a Maple & Walnut Coffee Cake? OMGNOM

  • nonoononononono.  Nuts are awful in baking.  What a texture letdown!  I mean, I like nuts on their own, but not in baking.  Not even in maple walnut ice cream.

  • You don't know what you're missing. I love me some nuts.

  • Of course you love nuts, Alix. Don't we all. ;-) Dinner tonight is chorizo and kale soup, compliments of the husband.

  • Vogt, sorry for the delay!! I actually got the recipe from someone here a while back, so if it sounds familiar to anyone, it's probably your recipe... Crock Pot Chicken & Dumplings 4 chicken breasts, cut-up2 cans Cream of Chicken soup1/4 cup onion, diced1 can chicken broth2 tsp buttergarlic salt to taste1 pkg refrigerated biscuitscarrots (optional)Combine all ingredients except biscuits in Crock Pot; cook on low 5-6 hours. Thirty minutes before serving, tear biscuit dough and add to Crock Pot, dropping into soup. Cook on high thirty minutes or until biscuits are cooked through.I won't be adding carrots, because we don't put veggies in our C&D down here, but otherwise, I'll be following the recipe precisely!!
  • Georgia I was going to ask you for that, too. :-) Awesome!
  • That sounds like a recipe Brie posted, Georgia.  I do something similar, except I use a bag of frozen veggies for soup in mine, and crescent roll dough instead of biscuits.  I think the crescent dough bakes up lighter.

  • suirrly, i like my dumplings (or dumplins, as I say) super thick, so no go on the Crescent rolls!! But I bet they're good and buttery, I bet. My grandma makes the best Chicken & Dumplins ever, so I'm hoping this recipe comes close.
  • The lighter they are, the more of them I can eat without feeling like I swallowed a brick.  :D  That's why I go for light.  Do you eat/like stewed tomates with dumplings?  My great-grandmother used to make them.  Love those.

  • I just noticed I accidentally called you suirrly above, LOL. I've never had stewed tomatoes & dumplins, but my nanny makes stewed tomatoes and rice a lot, which I can't eat, because the dish is pink and I can't eat pink savory food unless it is steak.
  • We had home-made pizza (and beer, yay!) for hump day.
