Chest Tattoos

I just saw pictures of a friend of mine on facebook, and she has apparently gotten a tattoo right smack dab in the middle of her chest. Judging by the rest of the pics, quite a few of her friends also have tattoos on their chests.What are your thoughts on chest tattoos? I personally find them absolutely hideous because they detract from the natural beauty of that area (gag me that sounds lame). I could never do that.

I'm not a huge fan of tats overall.  Once they went mainstream it's kinda overdone.

If it's part of a sleeve(s) or a whole torso piece, I'm cool with it, if it's just one of those that are smack above your boobs with no surrounding ink, I think they look a bit funny IMO.

I hate them.  I think they look absolutely horrible by themselves. A friend of mine has a full sleeve that is melding onto half her chest, that's cool but NMS.One friend has a tiger right in the center.  You can see just the head when she's got a v-neck on.  I do not find it attractive in the least.  i would not do it, but to each her own.

The friend im talking about has a diamond smack dab in the middle just slightly above where the cleavage starts. Im hoping to god its fake because it just looks rediculous. Most other chest tattoos ive seen look like the one sarah posted, i swear to god. Stars, swallows, banners and crap like that.

I agree with you, Nebb. There are (appropriate) times I like showing off my cleavage, and I wouldn't want to cover it up. I also have fairly deep cleavage, so a full chest tattoo would look awkward, I think. I know someone who did it. Call me out if you want, but I don't think it looked feminine. Then again, she had tattoos almost everywhere else on her body.

Throat and face. I have also seen ones on the inside of lips. I knew a girl in college who had flowers tattood on the upper portion of her ear. why... why...

I think the whole punk/whatever genre adopted a lot of symbols, and everyone in that genre got them tattood on their body. Swallows are one of them, though I have no idea why. I know atleast 5 girls with swallows.

I'm not a fan of them on the chest on women.  But, I don't think they're hideous either.  My friend has one.  It suits her.  So whatever.  I think it might be the new hot spot.  That and the ribs.  I have noticed a lot of people getting tats down their side.

Definitely NMS. There is a lady who works in my building who is heavily tatted and I think it's a little distracting in the workplace, at least in my field. On a related note, on Food Network Challenge right now this girl has some on her neck...icky.

Swallows are actually some of the oldest tattoos. It has something to do with sailors and some kind of symbolism. Back when mostly just sailors had tattoos. I doubt if most people getting the trendy swallows have any idea what it really signifies.

One of the girls at work has one right above her left boob. When she wears a lower cut short you can see it kind of popping out. She actually had a patient pull down her a shirt a little bit so she could see what it is a tattoo of.For the record, she hates it. She got several tattoos when she was a teenager trying to rebel and she doesn't care for any of them now.

I love tattoos in the workplace.There's nothing hotter than a 20something guy walking downtown in dress pants, chucks and part of his tattoo sleeve peaking out of his dress shirt.

I'll throw this out there. There are only so many jobs you can do with large, visible tattoos. I overheard a principal talk about how he interviewed a new teacher with visible tattoos and it bothered her a lot - she didn't think 1st graders, nor their parents, would be okay with it. I'm not saying it's right, but it happens.
