Re: FU Volkswagen

  • I love Volkswagen. Love them. I've been driving VW's for 8 years and have never had a problem, been virtually maintenence free, and have had excellent customer service. Sorry they've sucked for you guys.

  • Yea, it does stink.  OEM Catalytic Converters are very expensive. I just looked up the price for mine for the part alone and it's $1140.00!  Some cars have multiple too.GL with the repairs!  I have lots of friends who are VW enthusiasts and love them, but other friends who've had them and would never buy them again.

  • Fish, I'll second the customer service. It's always been great IMO. The 2 year warranty was my life saver. It covered literally thousands of dollars worth of repairs. The free engine being the main thing, but there were countless other trips to the shop too. I feel similar to Bec in saying mine was in the shop every few weeks.Conveniently, after my warranty expired, I haven't had as many problems. But considering how much work had been done, there couldn't be but so much left to fix.Inspection time has cost me $1,900 in two years. Something is seriously wrong with that.
  • I have a 2001 VW Jetta and it sucks!! It was the first car I completely purchased myself and in the past year, I have put in over $1000 in repairs! My check engine light goes on about every other month. I can't wait to get a new car next year when I am done grad school..and I would never recommend a VW to anyone! My sis just got rid of her VW golf and she had just as many problems.. louisvillebride - my jetta smells like crayons!!!!!!! everytime someone gets in my car, the first thing they say is "your car smells like crayons"...i never understand but the thing about the glue makes sense..good to know
