OK, just so you know, John and I watched The Shining last night.I'd forgotten how good it was, and how creepy that score was.  Did you know the little kid never saw any of the scary stuff, and just made faces when Stanley Kubrick told him to "look scared?" He never saw the girls or blood, or any of that stuff - never knew he was making a horror movie.There's your trivia for the evening.....

Nope - but, I still don't watch the scene where Hallorann gets it. Never have. Don't know why.I was 12 when that came out, and it was the first R rated movie I saw in the theater. I saw it with two older girls, and we were the only ones in the theater - until the naked lady scene. A guy came in, and sat across the aisle from us. Empty theater, and he sits across from 3 girls - 16, 14, and 12. Yeah.  We were moving; my dad had already gone to GA, and I had a nightmare he was coming back on a plane to kill us (he HATES it when I tell that story). Only time I've ever slept with my mom.******Nope, scared was reserved for finding out the crazy man who beat up J's car was released from jail for "time served" on Friday......

Oh it was a special day....A couple of months ago, I got a text from John - a picture - no words. His windshield, smashed in. Freaked me out. I flew down to his work to see if he was okay. Turns out, this crazy/drunk/high dude had been beating his car (first seeing him, he was sitting on the ground, beating it with his head and letting air out of the tire). He tried to get into the shop; John called 911 to report it; reported it again when he tried to get in; then when the guy started beating up the car, he called again and said, look - the guy is destroying my car right now - we're going out to stop him I need help now! He and the managers got out and got the guy to get off the car and cornered/surrounded; he tried to throw some punches, but didn't. Finally, the cops got there. He tried to head-butt his way out of the police car and then again out of the paddy wagon.They charged him with a 3rd degree felony and public intox; and his court date was Friday - he was allowed to pled guilty to a lesser charge of 3rd degree criminal mischief and was released Friday with time served - 56 days. 1 day for every $1,100 worth of damage, apparently (yeah...). There's something online about he has orders to stay away and a sentence of 700 some days; so I guess if he's found back near the car/J's work, he'll go back to prison. This was the text I got:

Yes, it was lovely.I called J as he was getting to work today - we've only had the car back for less than a month. He happened to drive the Miata today, and he went up front and parked where the other folks park who work later, so his car isn't at the back (the shop is at the end of the building, and there at the back is a levee and the riverbank, and a homeless camp, which is where he probably came up from).And, he's home safely....
