One the morning of your wedding....

how long did it take you to get ready? We'll be doing hair at a salon and then be going back to my hotel room for makeup and getting dressed and possibly having a bite to eat. Will 3 1/2 hours be enough time for this?  I'm thinking "yes", but at the same time, I don't want to feel ridiculously rushed.Oh, the hairdressers said that for the styles we want, hair will take about an hour.TIA!

Re: One the morning of your wedding....

  • My hairdresser is starting my hair at 5:30.  I need to be ready by 9.I know this doesn't help much, I just wanted to whine.

  • And by "One the morning of your wedding...", I clearly meant  "On the morning of your wedding..."
  • If everything is close together, then I don't see it being a problem. Is 3 1/2 hours leaving enough time to get to the ceremony venue for pics/ceremony/etc?
  • How long does it take to get from the hotel to the salon?  Are you doing your own makeup, or paying someone or ? If this becomes a word problem (if the train leaves Union Station travelling at 54 mph at 2:35pm...), I'm out.
  • My hair took just under two hours, my makeup about twenty minutes and then we just hung out until the car arrived.

  • We started hair about 4 1/2 hours before we had to be ready, and even with a nice, calm lunch we were ready on time without any major rush.
  • I got my hair done from 2 until 3.  Went back and did makeup and got ready by 3:30-4pm.   I really, really hate to mill around.  I like to get things done and move on.  In the mornings I can wake up, shower, dress and be at work in under an hour.  So take my timeline with a grain of salt.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Oooh, 5:30, that's rough.   So, that's 3 1/2 hours for you, too.  So maybe I'm good. See?  You did help me.
  • If everything is pretty close together I think you should be ok.

  • The salon to the hotel should be about 5 minutes.  Likewise for the hotel to where we're having pictures done. We're doing our makeup ourselves and none of us wear a lot of it.  We're all "get ready in 30 minutes" kind of people.
  • Then I would say that 3 1/2 hours will be plenty of time.
  • Awesome!! Thanks guys!
  • It took about an hour and a half for my hairdresser to do my hair because I have a lot.  It only took about an hour for make up but it would have been longer had I opted for false lashes.  3 1/2 hours seems like plenty of time to me.
  • I should clarify that it's just me and the two mom's getting our hair done and she's going to do my makeup as well.  And she's coming to the hotel (thank god she's a friend)I'm a week and a half out and really regretting my choices right about now :)

  • Holy Hell, moose, you ARE a week and a half out!!! How did that happen??!! Not helpful, sorry. Yay!! You'll get excited next week, I bet. And if you don't, enough people around here will be excited FOR you!
  • Depending on the minute, I may or may not be excited.  I'm sure I will be later.  Right now I'm thinking "Holy crap."

  • You know what makes "Holy crap" go away? Wine.  Also, remember that this will be your best marriage EVER, so that's something, too. And at least you don't have menopause. :D
  • You're getting married in Banff, righ Moose?  It's really nice there - we plan on taking our HM there between Xmas and New Years.
  • Just outside of Banff actually.  I've been drinking a lot lately Georgia.  I spent $100 at the liquor store not that long ago.

  • Well, there you go! As long as it doesn't interfere with work, sexy time, or WoW, then you're fine. Plus, times flies, you know.
  • Oh, I was hammered for WoW on Saturday night.  It was awful.  Aw. Ful.But yes, it's been wonderful

  • not sure if your 3.5 hours includes hair.for me:early AM shower9 AM - 10 AM hair appt.1030 arrive at sister's house eat lunch that someone brings in, chill out, get dressed, do makeup1230 limo leaves sis' house for church115 arrive at church2 pm weddingIt was fine. There wasn't a ton of down time but there was enough.
  • Yeah, it includes hair.  My morning looks pretty much like yours except our pictures start at 12:30 and we'll have to leave the hotel at about 12:20. I think I'll be good.  Thanks for all the responses!!
  • Mine was sort of ridiculous, but only as a result of the hair/makeup boutique insisting we needed to arrive at 7... we got there just before 8, and were finished by 11:30. We went and grabbed some food, and then had to sit around waiting (and doing last minute things, but not a lot left to do by that point!) for about 3 hours before I could finally put on my dress! I guess it depends on how many you have in your group getting hair and makeup, and how many stylists you have. We had 6 girls getting hair done, and 5 getting makeup, one makeup artist and 2 hairdressers... and that took about 3.5 hours.
  • That should be fine. It took me 4 hours to do hair and makeup, but my hairdresser cannot tell a story without talking with her hands, so she stopped what she was doing a good half the time. Then the makeup girl was 20 minutes late, and with driving between the places... yeah, it took a while.
