Re: **Banana**

  • Thanks for posting that Gmae!!I heard that on the radio when I was driving home tonight.  I'm SO glad that they finally made an arrest.  And I just had a bad feeling that the guilty parties weren't students.  It's not like that means that people shouldn't visit UConn but it's really unfortunate that the bad apples aren't the students. And now hopefully I get to go back to the happy memories of that place in the middle of the cow fields...with the giant hill.
  • I was talking about this with DH..about how most of the crimes that have occurred on the UConn campus weren't committed by UConn students. It's really unfortunate. A UConn cop was interviewed on the news and asked about the possibility of installing metal detectors in EVERY BUILDING on campus. He said that it would never, ever happen. That would be madness.I had a funny feeling that the fire alarm was connected somehow and it seems as though it was.I love Horsebarn Hill. It's actually where DH and I did our e-pics. :)

  • What a GREAT idea!I love it too....but it's also where DH broke his collarbone.
  • Oh no! Did he trip and fall? It's really uneven.

  • Aw you young'un ;)  Was your BFF at the SBA when I was there?  Doubt I know her either way, that school was so frickin big.  Feel free to DD, in fact I might delete mine too, you've made me paranoid too!  I don't know of what though...
  • Gg, DH broke his collarbone sledding one night.  The snow had iced over and he went off a jump.  When he came back down he felt the bone crack.Yeah, they had to winch the stretcher up the hill because the paramedics couldn't walk down the icy hill.  :-)Mrs. Bella, I was there from 1998 until to 2002 too!Where did you live?  I was in Frats, then Shippee (just a semester), then East and then Hilltop - I was an RA in Ellsworth my last year.
  • Eh, I try to be careful. A lot of people here know my first name (which isn't very common) and with that + school, year, and major you never know! She was there 2004-2008 as well. Majored in Marketing.

  • OUCH! That's awful. I never went sledding at HB Hill. I did go behind my freshman dorms (Northwest) and slammed into the curb a few times. No broken bones though.I lived in NW, Towers, and Hilltop Suites. Then I moved off campus my senior year.

  • Yeah ok I DD'd and shall now change my SN to Mrs. Paranoid :)Wow banana that's so funny, you really got around while you were there!!  I commuted from home for the 1st 3 semesters, then lived in McMahon, and then the new South campus.  Never sledded on HB hill either...
  • Banana - They converted Shippee from an all-girls dorm to an honors dorm my sophomore year.

  • Wow banana that's so funny, you really got around while you were there! What??  What have you heard?!  ;-)Well, they tore down Frats (Northwest) after my freshman year.  Shippee was awful and I wanted out of there and to be with my geeky friends in East.  I dated a CSE major while I was there.  DH actually lived down the hall from the jerky d-bag ex but we didn't date until after we both graduated.  He lived in Whitney for 3.5 years.
  • i dunno what's happened to my brain but i can't remember where half these dorms were!!  Banana I'm continuing to be nosy, what'd you major in?  Feel free to not post it here if you're not comfy.  I won't be offended (not as much as I am by your reputation anyway!)
  • Shippee/East/Whitney are on the left side of 195 (Storrs Road) if you are coming from I-84. Northwest is near the fire station.

  • Ditto GG.Shippee is at the far end of campus on 195 by Store 24, and the liberal arts / drama buildings.Sprague, Whitney and Holcomb are the three very old dorms on 195 that look connected to each other.  Ellsworth is right behind Gampel pavilion.I majored in psych!
  • ah yes it's all coming back to me now.  I must admit I was always quite suspicious of those dorms on the left of 195...  but hey, coming from a former commuting student, who the hell was i to judge?
  • They were a bit odd but very neat. The vegan food in Whitney was awful though.
  • Tell me vegan wasn't the only option?  I'd have been living on hot pockets from Store 24.  Oooooh do you remember Wings Over Storrs?  That place was AWESOME.
  • LOVED Wings over Storrs!DP Dough was the best.  Every now and then I get a craving for it and DH and I think about driving back up.
  • Definitely could go for a Honey BBQ DC-3.  See?  I remember the important stuff :)  There's also a Wings Over Hartford, when I worked in that area we used to order from there too.
