  • Find out when you have to have the count to the caterer. I would do a week before that date, so that you have a week to track down those who didn't respond.
  • Worried about next year?Seriously, though, I'd say a week before your caterer/venue needs final numbers.
  • I hope you're not asking this because you are ordering your invitations soon.

  • You mail the invitations on Augusst 28.Your RSVP date is September 18.Your caterer will need a soft number two weeks ahead, and a hard number one week ahead. Q.How far in advance should you send invitations? What is the proper date to ask for the reply card?A. Invitations should go out six weeks before the wedding -- that gives guests plenty of time to clear their schedules for the day and make travel arrangements if they are out-of-towners. It also lets you make the RSVP date a little earlier -- say three weeks before the wedding date -- so you can get a final head count and start making a seating chart (if you'll have one) before the final-week-before-the-wedding crunch begins.
  • I need my final numbers 3 weeks before the wedding, so my rsvp date is a month before.
  • I have a semi-related question. My room block ends 4 weeks before the wedding so sending out invitations 6 weeks prior would only leave 2 weeks for guests to make their overnight accomodations. Almost all of our family members are coming in from out of town and the room block is already in place (wedding is next June) so my question is how far in advance should I send the invitations? Thanks!
  • Pink - invites go out 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding.  If you send them at the 8 week month, that gives guests 4 wks to make reservations.  Although, 2 weeks should still be enough time to pick up a phone and reserve a room

  • Pink - if you are doing STDs or a wedding website, I would put the information for the hotel blocks on there as well. And spread it by word of mouth in case anyone wants to make reservations in advance.

  • Thanks ladies, we did sent out STDs with our wedding webpage that has all the hotel info on it so everyone will have a fair chance to book their rooms and we've been telling people we see or talk to verbally. I just had nightmare vision of family members getting mad bc they didn't have enough time to book their rooms but then again if they don't book them, it's not my problem. :)
