Hump Day Vents

Re: Hump Day Vents

  • My friend has kids and she pretty much uses all of her sick time, vacation time and any other time off because of her kids.  It sucks for her, BUT that's the choice she made when she had kids. You get leave for certain things.  Once you've used that leave up, feel free to take time off without pay if you must.  But no, you don't get extra paid time off because you chose to have kids and work.  I'd understand this if I were a parent.  It sucks, but the company is not there to pay you to raise your children or take smoke breaks.I think that throwing the knot out there is irrelevant and pointless.  I'm still IN The office and available to do the work they need me to do.  I just knot in the middle of that.

  • When I was single, co-workers always acted like all of us single people should be the ones to work late the days before holidays or early the day after since we didn't have kids.  Um, yeah, I still have a family to spend Christmas Eve with.

  • As long as parents aren't getting extra paid time off because of their kids, I see no problem with that. You have responsibilities as a parent to take care of your kids. It would suck if your job was at risk because you needed to be home with your children when they are sick. I have no problems with companies being more flexible for parents. I hope that when I have children the company I work for will be flexible for me, so why wouldn't I want that for others? Its not like they are home sleeping or drinking margaritas all day. They are taking care of a sick kid.Although if people were blatantly lying to have time off that would bother me.
