Rockin....

DH is now the "proud" owner of a 5-year restraining order against the crazy dude who tried to destroy his car in August. He was released from jail Friday, and he got the order in the mail yesterday.Rockin.' He's ordered to stay away from him by name, and away from his work address (our home address is not listed and is unknown, at least to the defendant).

Re: Rockin....

  • Oh, wow.  What's the back story on the attempted-car-destruction?
  • FI got one against him from crazy guy or has one against the crazy guy?

  • What? Why did he destroy your H's car? I demand details.
  • The court granted one to DH against the crazy dude. He must stay away from DH for the next 5 years.Back story (I've posted about this a couple of times, but not as a full post):Right after J got to work one afternoon, he heard a noise and looked out, and saw this dude leaning into his car (a Miata), sitting on the ground - thought it was a drunk, passed out. Realized he was letting the air out of the tires. Then saw he'd head-butted the car, putting in a large dent above said tire.J went back in, called the cops.  Was expecting a truck to be dropped off, called the driver to tell him to go around to the front. Guy tried to get into the shop. J heard more banging around; J called cops again.  15 minutes go by; he peeks outside and sees the guy sitting on top of the Miata (which had the soft-top on it), back-kicking the windshield in. J calls cops AGAIN, tells them the guy is ACTIVELY destroying his car, and they need to get there now to catch him. He gets all the managers to come help him get the guy off the car and they get him surrounded.Cops arrive after 30 minutes or so; dude's cuffed; tries to headbutt out of the police car; they call a paddy wagon, and he does the same thing. He's been in jail since then.  Was charged with a felony (criminal mischief $1,000-10,000) and public intox, and had his court hearing Friday. They released him with time served, but with like a 700-some day court sentence, so if he comes around J or his place of employment, he goes back to jail. The car:Yeah.  I got that photo as a text..... no explanation.  A lot of the damage was the dash. MF walked around on the hood and on the dashboard, grinding the glass into it.

  • So he destroyed it in a drunken stupor for no reason? That is odd. Well, glad that he has a restraining order against him.
  • Holy crap, that's crazy!

  • Buttaflai - absolutely, totally random. Someone he'd never seen before. Dude's got a fairly long court sheet; most seem to stem from alcohol or drugs. We were without the Mazda for 5 weeks. Its the one manual (he has that and a Nissan truck, since he hauls sport vehicles)  I can drive with relative ease. DH is a fanatic about his cars - we park far from the doors to avoid door dings; don't set anything on the cars, etc. He had a bail; no one bailed him out. Go figure.
