Re: Poll:Bridesmaid Dresses

  • I paid $150 for the dress and $60 for alterations.  I would not assume that the dress would be worn again.
  • My bridesmaids spent about $150 on their dresses from David's Bridal. I can't recall what the most is I've spent, but probably no more than $200.

  • I'm only having one attendant, and she's gonna get to pick whatever she wants.  Most I've ever spent on a bridesmaid dress?  Hmm... last wedding I was in, I picked my own in the bride's color for $50.  I bought a black dress for a wedding that was over $100, and the dress rocked and I still wear it.  So I guess that's it.

  • my girls spent $118. they were incredibly well-made dupioni silk dresses from ann taylor's celebrations line. the most i have ever spent was $150. the worst bm dress i have ever worn was like $30 from target. it looked like a potato sack. i'd rather pay $200 for something flattering than $30 for something i am embarrassed to wear. my husband laughed at me and told me it's the worst he has ever seen me look in an outfit, including gym clothes and pj's. ouch. i agreed with him!
  • My BMs will be spending $130.
  • Jill have you looked at places like Dillards and Macys?  They have some nice dresses and you can usually find some great sales there too.  I also think buying out of department store will get you much more quality for your money too, as opposed to places like Davids Bridal.

  • My girls asked for it to be under $200. I've found two that I love, each for $160.IMO, it depends on what else they're being asked to pay for. If a bride wants the girls to buy specific shoes, I think she should lower the price. If I were a BM, I'd like to keep the whole ensemble under $250. My BMs won't need to take care of anything besides travel (we're picking up their hotel, wearing their own shoes, having a "spa night" the night before to DIY nails, etc.)
