I think this is ok to post on here Dani and RP (let me know if it's not). My friend is a photographer and I've been thinking of helping her out with weddings and such on the side. We've done this before and make a great team. I have a lot of experience from HS and college and am just getting my feet into it again. One thing that my friend is looking to do more of because of the requests she is getting is pet and animal shots. So I've been playing around this weekend and took these. Thoughts? Comments? I do realize that it might not be some people's style. Feel free to post neat looking pics of your pets too... I need the inspiration! I'm okay with you asking for advice, comments, inspiration but if anyone asks about the name of your business or wants to hire you, please keep it off the boards.  I know it's not wedding photography but it's still vendor-ish.

Oh, and those are really cute pictures.  I wouldn't pay for professional pictures of my cat, but I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who would.

I like them. They're a bit artsy for my taste...I like to see a bit more of a dog's personality. The best pics I have of Willard are from one of my best friend's boyfriends. Whenever I take pix of him, he looks red-eyed and goofy. But Carl has an amazing eye for dogs (he's an amateur, but his stuff has been in rescue calendars). I've included the pics he's taken before, here they are again. Oh I love the pics! The ones I took are actually for the greyhound rescue cookbook and calendar. I too don't think I quite "get" the pro pics of animals, but my friend has been getting SEVERAL requests. I told her I would check it out. I should have added that to my OP... "Would you actually have this done?"

I wouldn't pay for professional dog photos, but in a town like DC, there are about 40 billion pet owners that would.

We've never had pro photos of our dogs (really those photos are by me, I'm sure you're shocked)... but I might one day.

My animal photos are crappy.  But those are cute! To answer your question--I wouldn't specifically get a pet photo shoot, but if I was having a family photo shoot done in my home and you offered, "Hey, I'll take a couple pet pictures for an extra $20," I'd probably say yes.

I guess the reason I wouldn't now is that W has bad cataracts that are getting worse...so I like his old pix better. Maybe once the kid comes I'd take a family pic of the kid with the dog, although I'm generally not much of a picture taker...

Ditto Vally. I have been lurking on the Photography Board but I have not had the chance to buy any version of Photoshop or anything... So I just use the pictures I take of Jade... without enhancing/changing anything.

I like them, although I'm not sure if I would pay for a dog photo shoot.  Maybe if it was reasonably priced.  My former SIL is a pro photog in Los Angeles and does dog shoots.  I think she gets quite a few clients.

I like to lurk there, Vally. They have some great pictures there but harldy any that I can relate to (ie: baby/kid pics) since most of the ladies are from The Bump... KWIM? And thanks, Britt! We took Jade TOTing on Saturday at a local outside mall and she got all kinds of attention... She was strutting her stuff in her princess costume! :0)
