La Hora Loca Music Selections?

Hey girls! Just wanted to know if you have been to a wedding or are planning to have la hora loca? If so, what music did they play or are you playing?

Re: La Hora Loca Music Selections?

  • No idea but I have to ask, what in the world is that?
  • You should post this on your local.  I assume this is a band.

  • does that translate quite literally to the crazy hour? sounds like my kinda party.
  • Or is it some crazy mexican-jewish infusion??
  • I just googled it.  Apparently it's a Venuzelan tradition.  Do you know people that have done this?  Like IRL?  Maybe they can give you some direction.
  • Yeah I have no idea where I heard it from but pretty much its called crazy hour.. its done during the last hour of your reception when everyone is winding down... Most of the girls on my local board have never heard of it....
  • I asked my H, and they don't do it in Peru, so I've got nothing.  Maybe someone on the Miami board is familiar?I think you can play whatever you want.  Since it's the last hour, I would think dance music.
  • Where's Expat when we need her?????????

Do not mess in the affairs of dinosaurs because you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • Okay, just got in... I've actually never heard of "la hora loca" but I did a little research and it sounds like it's when a group plays mostly Latin dance songs and uses props like masks, funny hats, balloons, feather boas, etc. to really get the energy up and people dancing. This has happened at every wedding I've been to in Mexico, but I've just never heard it called "the crazy hour." The type of music that's played is very well-known Latin dance songs as well as current popular chart-toppers. At the last weddings I went to, examples of the songs played would be "No eres para mi" (by Fanny Lu) and "I Gotta Feeling." My advice would be to get a Latin DJ and/or band that uses props and ask them to put this together for you... From my experience, the music people are really the ones in charge of this, so they have to know what they're doing in order to make it work ;) Also, they should know which songs would really get YOUR crowd going, as Latin music tastes vary by region and countries... Good luck ;)
  • I have been looking for songs for this- my family (my moms side) is from Venezuela my dad is form the US so we wanted to infuse both Latino and English language songs into Hora Loca.

This is a Venezuelan tradition but many cultures have embraced it. It is typically done at the end of the night as one last "hurrah" it lasts one hour with extravagant masks, noise makers hats and in Venezuela even people on stilts (pic attached) come in or even flame throwers (in South America- Venezuela a lot of the time weddings are very extravagant) etc and one hour of constant music and everyone standing and dancing non stop.

Here is a sample of some music we will be using:

-Jump Around by House of Pain

    - Juan Luis Guerra: El costo de la vida

      - El Niagara en bicicleta

    - Visa para un sueno

    -Olga Tanon- Es Mentiroso

    -Shakira- Loca ft Dizzee Rascal

    - Livin la vida loca

Lupe Fiasco—The Show Goes On All Night

    Outkast- Hey Ya
