Well I say memphis because it's the closest city to me that people recognize. I live a good 80 miles north of memphis, bout as close to the MO border as you can get without crossing over. You went to murray? My ex-bff just graduated from there a couple years ago.

I graduated from Murray in 2002.  If this is the same ex-bff who decided to disappear on you, I have to say she didn't get that from Murray.    Rural MO irritates me to no end.  The roads there have letters, instead of numbers, which is weird.  And - gas stations with no gas pumps.  But, they have Lambert's.  Good food.  Supremely irritating billboards.  "YOUR HERE" makes me want to gouge my eyes out.

I hate hate hate the letters. And the signs, like you said. OMG the signs. Makes me stabby. Same ex-bff. Nah, she got this hoity toity behavior from up north

And yes, two thumbs up to lamberts. And FI is an ex-bullrider, so we hit up the rodeo every year. If you end up in that area anytime, email me and we'll have a gtg it's not far from me at all, about 45 minutes so it's totally doable, even on a random week night.

Whit, you'll love this.  One night, friends went to see Dave Matthews play in Memphis.  Took some crazy back road to get there from Murray.  I got a call at 4 am asking for directions on how to get back.  My friend didn't know where she was - how did she expect me to see through the phone & give her directions?  I've STILL never even been to Memphis.  I suggested I-40 to Nashville and then I-24 to KY.  This is before google maps on blackberries and GPS devices, btw.

I was there over the summer, actually.  We took a long weekend at KenLake.  It was AWESOME.  Except I had to teach the whole group how to water ski.  And drive the boat.  FI nearly drowned me when he tried to drive for me.

HA! That's too funny! Memphis is a little ridiculous to get to though Ahh kenlake. Good times! Fabulous area. Still mostly untouristized.

Have you been to Belew's?  If not - you have to if you go to the lake.  It's in Aurora, on the road to Draffenville.  BEST burgers & shakes.  Ever.  It's only open in the summer, though.

No, I haven't! But I know where aurura/draffenville is, so I'll remember that next time we head up there.
