Lately, I've fleetingly entertained the thought of trying to get pregnant.Then I realized - it's not because we're ready. But because I miss the attention of being a bride.WTF is wrong with me?

If it makes you feel better, I want to get pregnant so I won't have to work.  How we would feed ourselves and a baby if that happened I have no idea.

That's got to be a little normal, doesn't it?  I mean the buildup to the wedding is huge then after.....  Kind of like after you graduate from college and then what...

Hmm, well, I think it's a good sign that you are self-aware enough to realize this. But did you really get all that much attention as a bride?This is the kind of thing I'd probably journal about it if I was feeling it. Just write about it for a few minutes a couple of times a week to work through the feelings and try to figure out what they really mean. Good luck.

I went through a little spell like that, not about not being a bride, but just out of boredom.  I was bored.  We had a long serious talk about it and remembered all the reasons why we aren't ready.  Then I decided to find a hobby and spend more time with my girlfriends.  That has helped a lot.

I flip flop back and forth between hating kids and kinda wanting them. I really cant make my mind up so the decision will remain NO until I do. I worry I would really regret it if I did have them and then realized I really wish I hadnt. I do think it would be cute though to get a little harness for my dog and let the baby ride him.

That's a good thought, ac, about journaling my thoughts I mean. I'll definitely do that... I've got all sorts of conflicting thoughts about becoming a parent.

I do think it would be cute though to get a little harness for my dog and let the baby ride him.My parents' dog used to pull me in my sled.  She loved it.

I can't really say much on this because I am ready to try for a baby now and we are getting married in march. The dress style would allow for baby belly...but we are trying to do it the other way around and get married first. He is 11 1/2 years older than I am and has no children. I am 32 and have a 5 year old daughter. We'd like to have 1 child, and the clock is ticking!!!

For some unbeknownst reason, this morning, I realized that if I don't have a child, my dad's bloodline ends with my brother and me. And so does DH's (ends with him).That made me really, really sad. My brother has a child, but I meant someone who might have my dad's eyes or smile (don't know why I didn't think about my mom like that).And it's a shame no one will have DH's eyes - they are beautiful.

I don't have to think about getting pregnant because that's all my husband ever talks about. As if. We're planning to start trying next year, and I'm trying to make him realize how good we have it right now not being trapped by a baby.

I'm getting married in May and I'm already dying to start trying to have a baby, but we are really wanting to wait till after the wedding. We planning on trying right away. Some say we should wait and have fun being married first, but we really want a baby!!

In some part of your head, it probably seems like the next logical step.  I find that most of these baby desires are irrational .My maternal pangs are out of control.  It seems cruel that since I'm looking for work, I have all this time and no baby.  Wish I'd been pregnant when I had a job so that I'd have this time to be with baby now.One of the hardest parts of losing my job has been postponing having kids.  We said we'd wait until after our 1st anniversary to start trying, but obviously we can't if I don't have a job (Mr. Penny's in school, I'm the breadwinner).

We've only been married 11 days and we are only waiting three months to try. We are only waiting that long because my ob said to since I just went off my birth control. We want a baby so bad. If that is what you guys both want then go for it. If not then wait. Good luck.

*laughing*Laura, OMG the clock is not ticking at 32!  Try being 39+ like me & Missy, then you can talk about time ticking. I don't want kids so it's no biggie, but seriously, I hate when people your age talking about the clock ticking.  You're getting married in 5 months!

I read this post on the nest..it was in reply to someone asking how to tame her baby fever.."Set you alarm clock to go off every two hours, wake up and rub a dry loofah on your nipples. Do this for three months and then see if you still have baby fever"It made made me laugh so I thought I'd share

I'm not married yet but I get in these moods where I want to have a baby asap after we get married.  Rationally I know that is a HORRIBLE idea and that I am not ready at all.  Maybe it's the fact that 3 of his sisters are due within a month of each other.

jules, I too want to get pregnant so that I can leave work. Sadly, though, I must finish my PhD (or have it close to done!) before that happens, or there will be no PhD for me! haha.
