Bridesmaid Gifts

These are the top two ideas right now.  Personally, I don't "get" name-brand bags and would rather have the massage but I know my girls would probably like either one.

So...

  • Why isn't neither an option?  Tongue out

  • Could you get the coach wristlet without the C's? I love Coach, but I absolutely hate the C stuff.

I like certain brands and I do own a lot of Coach stuff, but I'd rather pick it out myself. Frankly, I'd rather save up for a real purse. The only wristlet I use is a Vera Bradley one to hold my keys, money and ID when I go to the gym. If I'm going OUT out, I'll use a small purse or a clutch.

    I do, however, like massages.

Thanks....this is mostly what I wasnt sure of.  I really am not a bag person so I wasnt sure.  I asked my gf who is into this sort of thing what she thought and she said the wristlet so I figured I'd poll here for more opinions.

  • Assuming that you think your girls would really like either option, I would probably want the massage. It's not that I wouldn't like a wristlet, it's just that I can justify buying myself a purse way more easily than I can justify buying myself a massage. It's just something I wouldn't get around to buying for myself, so I think that would make it an excellent gift.

  • I vote for the spa certificate.  There are usually a lot of options at a spa so if someone didn't want a massage they could get a pedicure/manicure or facial.  You could even arrange a weekend and see if the girls would like to go together.  I know I'd be much more willing to USE the giftcard if someone went with me.
  • I agree with TJ about not purchasing a massage for myself, so I would prefer that over a handbag. Although if it is at all possible I'd try to arrange it so that you could make a day or weekend out of it. I had a massage gift certificate go unused because I never made the time to go.

Theyre from all over the country and are not necessarily friends with eachother without me so I dont think Im going to do a big day.  I know everyone is different but I think these girls would prob go on their own....I definitely would (but I love massages!).

  • Love me some handbags and especially Coach but I am amazed that so many brides buy wristlets for grown women.  I used the wristlets in college but as an "adult" I need to cary a phone, keys, wallet, etc. and most of those wristlets are just too small.  I never use wristlets anymore.

While I LOVE massages, maybe give them a choice of that, a facial, or a pedi/mani.  Some people get weirded out by other people touching certain parts of their body.

I own so many clutches, purses and totes that I would never use another one.  If someone gave me a Coach wristlet, I would appreciate it, but it would end up on the floor of my closet covered by the same wristlet in 5 other colors.

Now a spa day... you can never have too many of those.  I do agree with the pp who suggested a spa certificate rather than a specific thing (massage) so that people who are freaked out by massages won't be uncomfortable.

A friend gave me a Coach wristlet as a NWR gift once.  This was probably over 10 years ago.  It' still sitting in a drawer.  I should put it in our garage sale, thanks for the reminder.
