Sweetheart Table

Good morning ladies,

I am just wondering how all you set up/or plan to set up your Sweetheart Tables. I live in Alberta and have NEVER been to a wedding that didn't have a big head table with just the WP.  HOWEVER, I'm going to try and be the new trend setter of the area in more ways than one and have a Sweetheart Table.  I can totally understand the annoyance of sitting alone at a table with no one I know while my FI has been at the head table and vice-versa.

So, our reception is just a very large hall with a set dance floor in the middle, the Sweetheart Table would make sense to be in front of the dance floor, opposite the doors you come in and in the middle of the two sides, but how do I make it so we don't look like we have this little bitty table awkwardly in this big space.

How did everyone set it up?  Did you just have a small table decorated similar to the rest??  Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Sweetheart Table

  • We had a smaller round table decorated like all the rest (minus the table number).  We put it smack in the center of the room, and then clustered immediate family & WP around us, and then friends and more distant family outside that, with the younger party crowd by the dance floor, and the people who don't like loud music farther away.

  • We are going to be seated in front of the dance floor at a small table and there will be two tables big enough to seat 10 on either side of us.  That way each of the 5 GMs and 5 BMs can sit with their dates, but we are still around each other.  Other tables will fill in around the others, but those two tables will just be the closest ones to us..

<div>I like this idea of being in the middle of the guests. At the last wedding I attended, the sweetheart table was on the other side of the dance floor from the guests, and it was just kind of awkward. </div>
