Why are people so rude?...

I absolutely LOVE The Knot & I LOVE these message boards. I am so appreciative of all the advice and input I get from other Brides.

However, I have noticed that there are A LOT of extremely rude people on here. Why? Why be rude? 
It IS humanly possible to state your opinion and give advice without making someone feel stupid or feel like crap.  Do people get some kind of "high" by talking down to others???  Putting someone (or their thoughts & ideas) down doesn't make you any better than anyone else.

I am in shock at some of the responses I am reading on all the different posts. What a shame....
We are all on here looking for help & advice. Not to be talked to like trash. SMH.

Also, where did SMH come from? I never saw this initialism until recently and now it is everywhere.

If I got high from being mean on the Internet, I'd hang out on the Internet a lot more than I already do. I think we can safely say that Internet bitchiness does not produce a high. And. If no one ever says "SMH" again, it'll be too damn soon. Where did that come from and why does it irritate me so?

honest =/= rude.

 People come here for advice, people give advice.  Just because someone doesn't agree with you and tells you as such without sugarcoating it doesn't make them rude.

SMH was a poster that I am blanking on the name.. her sig pic was her ring if I remember correctly.  She was kind of rude to everyone and made a big deal out of letting people know she blocked her.  SMH was her way to be condescending to eeryone.

I'm with you Rach that I prefer them as but I do occasionally see them as (: I think that's odd because then you can't do :P or some of the other ones that don't involve a parenthesis.

By the way, my OP wasn't due to any responses I got to anything I posted. I was reading other people's posts & my jaw dropped at some of the answers they were getting.  I felt REALLY bad for some of them!!

And wait, I don't come on here as often as I need to,  but people BLOCK others? Really?? What for? LOL.
