[QUOTE]In Response to Re: FFF : My issue with this (not to threadjack) is that in SA, they did that. When I was about 8, I had to go to the bathroom really badly and my teacher at the time wouldn't let me until I'd finished my notebook assignment; so I rushed it and when I brought it up to her, it was messy because I was rushing, so she whacked me across the backside with a ruler and (ZOMG EMBARRASSING) I totally peed my pants. I have never forgotten it, in fact, I remember every single detail and all I got out of it was that she was cruel. It's totally wrong, IMO.

I agree that is awful. What we were discussing yesterday was the policy at Whit's school, which does not allow snap judgements like that one.

That's my fault. Sorry. I just can't find anything funny to say about the 4823976th children at the wedding question in a week. The newbie/troll invasion, while it did add posts to read, was exhausting this week. Undead board =/= interesting board.
I know I'm not supposed to defend myself in FFF, but the shitty newbies and some personal stuff this week have not a funny Bec made.

I don't think Cew, Bec and others have been especially harsh this week any more than they have actually been calling out P2 and Alix on things they do normally. It may seem harsh because, for example, p2 often makes snide remarks (a la bb in the princess thread) but I have noticed Bec and Cew actually saying something this week. If that is 'harsh' than color me silly. It's not like I have noticed Bec and Cew jumping down the throats of other posters who don't deserve it (okok newbie nonsense aside).

I flame ANY ONE who dares to start another e-ring thread in the next few months. Do not do it.

And I flame the girl who linked something on here to another board and told us she was too chicken shiit to post in the thread herself. (her name? any one?)
  • Yeah, I never thought I'd say this, but I'm becoming one of those crotchety old regs that doesn't even post all that often but is sick and tired of the newbs.

Especially the annoying squirelley. She needs to change her name so that I stop confusing her with cool squirrely and then getting all confused about why cool squirelly would say something dumb like that.

[QUOTE]Alix, basically I am ok with corporal punishment in schools. Sorry I scared you guys, but that's the way I feel. I am not a teacher, nor do I ever want to be one and I guess its because I don't have the patience for students who don't care and parents who can't be bothered to discipline their own children before they send them to school.

i got paddled in school. two different occasions. apparently, i'm not good at being quiet when told to shut up. who knew? i was in the gifted program in high school but getting "licks" in the office. i always finished my work early and was BORED. what's a girl to do?

what's funny is that this was as recently as 1997 and this was done by the male principal in his office with the door shut. i was a cheerleader that year. i wonder if he got off on it?

oh i got off track. when i was a kid, i preferred to get paddled 3 times in the office than get suspended and fall behind at school. when i was offered that choice twice, both times i chose to take "three licks" and go back to class. (small georgia town...don't ask!) but there is so much potential for corporal punishment to be abused that i don't think it's something that should be allowed.
  • Yes! No more e-ring threads. They suck balls. Big time.

I think we all have veins of association in our posts. I talk about being a parent and you talk about your health just as much as Brie talks about working out. Our focus on different things influences how we word responses. I like everyone's different emphasis from her life in posts.
