work bridal shower

Good morning,

the girls at work told me they would like to throw me a shower (how nice!). what would be a good thank you gift for them? I was thinking an edible arrangement but that might go fast because there will probably be more than a few girls planning. I was thinking maybe a cupcake cake? If they throw it for me a week or two before I leave work, would it be ok to send them the cupcake cake on my first day off or should I do it sooner? What other ideas are there for a nice thank you gift for everyone?

Also, I have registries at BBB and target but Im not sure if I registered for the right things or registered enough. Ive been to like 2 showers in my entire life, so I just added towels, sheets, kitchen stuff etc to ours. What else should I be adding? There really wasnt much home decor stuff I liked at either store. Should I have another one at another store??

The stuff I put on  at BBB was mostly kitchen stuff, I didnt add much target stuff because I didnt really like what they had. My sister is also throwing me a shower, and I just want to be sure there are enough options for guests to choose from should they decide to use our registry.

thanks!

  • I think it's fine to send something after you leave, but make sure it includes separate thank you notes for each gift.

I would just look at your registry after the first shower and add as needed.

    absolutely
  • After my work shower, I brought in Einstein Bagels. But our work showers are thrown by the shareholders, so it's a firm-wide thing. I didn't feel bad just bringing a huge assortment and a note that they were from us.

I think something edible is a good idea for the thank you gift; especially since it's shared.  is there a reason you want to do it after you leave?  I would think sooner is better, plus then you could potentially save a delivery fee by bringing it in yourself.  I don't think two weeks is too long to wait, persay, I just don't know why you'd wait?

As for the registry - there's not really anything you HAVE to add.  There are some things you definitely shouldn't put on a registry (like gift cards, honeymoon expenses, dog food....) but there's nothing you need to put on.  Think of things you and FI will both benefit from / use together.  Are you into camping? you could put camping gear on.  Into grilling? register for a new one and/or accessories.  kitchen / bed / bath stuff is always good.  Outside of the "typical" some of the stuff H and I registered for (to give you ideas) were: folding chairs (like the outdoor kind, though the indoor could come in handy too), tv trays, some lawn/garden stuff, a waterproof picnic blanket, new bathroom scale, an air matress (for guests), a new vacuum, and a steam mop.

Just make sure you have a variety of price points and like PP said you can check the registry between showers to see if you need to add stuff.  If you don't like the stuff Target has why have a Target registry?  It's okay to have more than one but I'd probably cap it at two; three if one is a specialty store.  We registered at BB&B, Kohls, and Pampered Chef.  If you're not happy with Target's offerings look at other stores and see if another fits better with your taste/style.
