Wedding colors poll

1) what colors did you choose?

2) what time of the year was it?

I'm getting married in the spring and we both like green and brown. I love the combo but I feel its not super spring like. Do you guys think that matters?

  • no it doesn't.

I got married in the fall and had pink and champagne.

  • Nope I like brown and green, and you could do all different shades of green if you want. I think green is a very springy color, even though that doesn't really matter.

Ours were red and aqua, in June.

  • I got married in the summer and used plum, fuschia, champagne and green.

No, it doesn't matter. Green and brown would be lovely in the spring, or anytime, really.

  • We are doing orange and red, and are getting married in April.  I didn't really care what time of year it was, those are my favorite colors, so I would have picked them anyway.

  • We're getting married in March and our colors are black, white and purple (and green)...I guess we have a lot of colors, haha.

But no, I don't think it matters, those colors sound good.
  • Green & blue in September. Brown & green will be fine in springtime.

  • My "stated" colors are red and black, but I haven't actually bought anything or done anything and really, I'm not super into flowers and I'm not super into centerpieces and decor and stuff, so it's pretty much going to come down to bridesmaid dresses, and I guess if we find something that looks nice in red, that's how it's going to play out. Otherwise, I don't think I'm actually going to end up with colors because I don't think I actually will have enough "stuff" to have a unified color "theme."

And no, I don't think season matters. My wedding is Oct 23 and I'm not into fall colors. Not that I'm all "ew fall wedding ew icky" but orange and such look like straight poo on/near me.

  • amen to that TJ.  I always told people "I want to get married in the fall, I don't want a fall wedding."

  • You guys have been so helpful. You all liked my hopeful dress, you all like my colors. Really everything else just doesn't matter. As long as I get what I want I'm good. I'm really the most important thing.
  • I don't think the colors need to match the season, especially if most of your ceremony and reception are going to be inside with whatever color decor the venue has (which was our case). I had a fall wedding with deep purple and champagne gold, with highlights of red and ivory. Or was supposed to with my flowers, and I continue to believe it would have worked out well.

  • He wants an outdoor reception. The green would still work. I just feel like the brown would be too fall-ish. But you know what, I think you are all correct. My wedding colors are pretty season neutral and so I think I"ll be good.
  • Thanks tlv! Those are way pretty.
  • We're getting married in June and our colors are pale yellow, pale green, and white with pops of red.

  • It doesn't matter at all.

I had an idea of colours at first, but in the end it ended up being: black/grey/silver/white with green accents. I can't actually remember what I was aiming for anymore, either.

  • Oh and I forgot to answer the second half of the post: It was in September, which is Spring here.
  • I wanted an outside fall wedding. But due to the nature of the Pacific Northwest did not want to risk trying to have one. So we compromised and had a summer wedding using red and orange a somewhat fall looking group.
  • Doesn't have to 'match' the season.  Choose the colors you like.

August - eggplant purple, cornflower blue, and magenta.

  • I agree it doesn't matter. No one at your wedding will be thinking "you know, I don't think brown is springy at all." And there are so many shades of brown - you could use a warmer lighter brown to give it a lighter look rather than, say, a dark chocolate color. Fish posted about mocha dresses from DB that were pretty.

I got married in October and we used a dark plum (DB Lapis) and lime green.

  • My planned colors are deep purple and ivory with gold accents.  Wedding is next December.

  • Our wedding was 9/27 and we did black, ivory and a bit of pink. As PP's said your color palette need not coincide with the current season.

So what you are saying is that the opinions of random strangers on a wedding message board are more important than the opinion of the groom? Seriously?
  • Well mine is a May wedding in SC. My colors are shades of purple. Lapis, Eggplant, Lavender. I picked my colors before anything else.

  • I'm a January bride and I'm doing navy, ivory, and gold.

My choice in colours was influence by the venue. Originally I was thinking red and white but when I saw the venue it really clashed.

I think colours fall into place once you start planning. At least for me, the colours just naturally chose themselves.

This picture sums up my colors in a nutshell.

It was the end of May.

To me, green and brown is VERY spring-like. Plus, it doesn't really matter if the colors match the season. Pick colors you love and go with those.

I was kidding about me being the most important thing. You just took me too seriously.
  • I am having a destiantion wedding, I love purple an pink but it seems like everyone does those colors...So since we are doing destination I was thinking ocean and sunset to my girls are wearing a turquoise color and guys are in Coral...Colors I never thought I would pick but they look AWESOME together!! And remind us of our favorite things the ocean and sunsets!!

I don't think it matters what the season is we are getting married in March...I think you both just need to be happy...I thought I would be a bridezilla when the time finally came to plan, but I have been really laid back and easy. I even let my girls pick their dress they all match but I told them to find something light, airy, something they will be comfortable in and they all agreed on one dress...So I chose the color and they chose the dress! We had so much fun!

My advice is to just have fun with it and don't stress yourself out. Ask your grooms opinion...(mine at first said just plan it and I will show up do what you want...now he is all about it and he even designed out save the dates!) I would take a poll, a=sk the grooms mother-don't forget her. And ask the girls in your wedding what they think. Just tell them you want their advice and some help where you are stuck. You don't have to do it all yourself!

Hope this helps and I hope your special day goes great for you!
  • Doesn't matter.. Go for it!

We're doing raspberry, tangerine, and goldenrod, with bits of pewter thrown in.
