rsvp-wtf?

Got my first uninvited +1 in the mail today.  This lady, a friend of my FI's mom, has decided to bring her grandson.  What made me laugh was that under meal prefence, they checked fish and specified that they would like it baked.  Apparently, we are waitstaff at our own wedding.

  • Oh that's good news then! Those party crashers! Lol I'm sure the grandson is adorable, but still. NO is NO lol
  • Oh nice! Do keep that to yourself! When I read grandson, I totally pictured a cute little boy. And now that I know it's a grown man, then i would be glad to turn him away! haha. They are definitely in the wrong, maybe you need to explain wedding etiquette to them, and tell them to go on TK! :)
  • Yeah as for the baked fish part I would just play dumb.  Even if its not baked, they can try requesting it at dinner if they want.  But anyways, does anyone really serve fish fry at their wedding?

w/e.  I have no energy to explain to them that at a wedding for 140 people, they do not custom make food to order.  They'll get whatever effing fish our venue is serving, and if they dont' like it, we have a kosher option, too.

It just blows my mind when people have no idea that brides do NOT want to hear about people's specific food prefences, because we have other sh!t to do, ya know.

  • Is her daughter coming? Is she trying to substitute a guest? That doesn't make it okay, but I wonder if she'll make a point about how "you have the room." You know, even though she's being rude.

  • If she lives at a nursing home it is likely that she will need help getting in and out of the reception and getting around.  Will it really kill your FI to have him there?  I'm so not for the adding or changing who the invite is for, but I think in the event that this guy would basically be her caregiver for the night i would make an exception.  Especially if thats the only way she can come.

  • dnbeach-agreed. Situation changes entirely with that bit of info.  FI's mother is handling it in whatever way she deems appropriate, so I'll allow her to do that, seeing as this is her guest.  Now I think my FI is being a little bit babyish, actually.

  • Does he have a fair reason to hate this guy?  Or is just an old grudge or something?
