My mother is driving me to drink over this wedding. She's fighting me on EVERYTHING. I've stopped sharing details with her because she just makes me nuts over stupid little things.
Here's the latest issue: our deadline for RSVPs was yesterday, 4/2. I don't have to get the # to the venue until 4/16, so I've time a little wiggle room if someone randomly changes their mind and wants to attend. Anyone after 4/16 is out of luck.
My mom thinks that we should pay for people "just in case". As in, spend $ on people's plates in case they wake up on the wedding day and decide they want to attend. She thinks holding 5-6 meals is a good idea. I think it's a raging waste of money, and FI and I have refused to pay for this. She's RIPPED at us because we won't budge on this. There might be no shows, so if someone shows that didn't RSVP and there's a no show, then that's a wash.
Am I out of line here? Is this normal? (I checked with the venue, they sometimes do make a few extra meals, but we'll get charged at the end of the night for the meal and chair rental if someone extra shows up, and there will be no dessert for them, as the exact amount of cupcakes are ordered).
