Evening!

So tonight is parent teacher conferences. It starts in 10 minutes...and out of the 40 or so teachers that are supposed to be on this floor...I am one of two that is here. This is going to be a long night

  • Evening!

    Ouch, Hockey.

We're actually having dinner tonight.  I've either had takeout, pasta, or skipped dinner for the last two weeks.  We both realized today we had zero food in the house, so we just went shopping.  I'm starving.  But it's making it hard to get up and start cooking when I have a fat, lazy kitty on me.

  • Hey Hockey! Yikes, hopefully the other teachers are just running late and they'll get there ASAP.

I just picked up sushi for myself... I'm probably not seeing FI tonight because he has his first final tomorrow and he'll likely be studying all night. I plan to eat, relax and then clean my room. I need to start getting rid of things that I won't be taking with me when I leave.

  • That sucks Hockey - I hope it goes by quick.

I'm making mashed potatoes for dinner. And the same chicken I usually eat -which was REALLY good last night for some reason even though I didn't do anything differently.
  • Evening all.

I really want to donkey punch FI's parents right now.  They are being such douches.  I'm so sick of their drama.
  • Bay, I will take that fat lazy kitty off your hands.  :-)  Seriously, I am dying for a pet.  If I ask FI for a puppy or a kitten one more time, I'm pretty sure he's going to kick me out.  (Okay, not really, but I can tell he does not think my "Can I please have a baby animal?" requests are cute anymore.)

And angel, I'm jealous of your sushi.

  • Poke, how do you make the chicken again? I remember you talking about it, but I forget what you said you do. I just remember it sounded yummy.

  • Hey all!   I'm procrastinating getting everything in order to move next week.  Everything has been virtually untouched since our last move 7 months ago, but we still need to get our 'everyday' stuff together.

Bay, how do you go shopping when you're starving?  I always end up spending twice as much as I intended!

  • Angel - I really need to go through all my stuff. It's hard because I'm a pack rat and I can't bring much with me >.<
  • I just got home from work. It's only 3 here so I'm watching Dr. Phil (as always) and relaxing in a blanket. It's really rainy today and I just want to cuddle up. Work drama has kept me worried for the last few months and it's starting to get to me.
  • Evening! Hockey, that sucks. I hope it goes by quickly.

I get out of work in a half hour, and I'm currently on the fence between going to the gym, and going home to sit on the couch with a bottle of wine. It's rainy and gross here, and my motivation is waning.

  • Steph, you should be, it's AMAZING :)

MUNI, what's going on with your FILs?

  • Hi!  Day 4 of the new job down.  Lots of reading procedures and stuff.  Can't wait to get into the meat of things.  I think the people I'll be working with are nice and it will be a good place to work.

I'm exhausted.  I didn't sleep well last night.  Lots of tossing and turning.
  • Steph, is your FI not an animal lover? I've never not had a dog, I couldn't do it!
  • Angel - I take the boneless skinless chicken breast and spray parkay 0 calorie butter all over it and then sprinkle some garlic salt/parsley flakes and pop it in the toaster oven for 20 ish minutes. If I were cooking for the whole family I'd use the regular oven, but that's just too much trouble for just me.

Muni - what are they doing??

I am too... luckily, I'll probably just be moving a short drive away, depending on where FI ends up getting a job, so I can take pretty much anything I want with me by making multiple trips... it's just a space issue, and realizing that I probably don't need that art project I made in the 4th grade that I saved for "sentimental reasons"

  • Steph, everyone needs at least two cats.  Big, fat ones.  Not obese.  But chunky.  Those are the best.

Ditto this. There was a 6 month period where we didn't have a dog after one of our dogs died and it was so freakin weird. I'm going to be sad leaving my dogs behind, but FI has a dog who will be coming with us and I love him.

  • Angel - It's almost physically painful for me to throw some of my old stuff away - but I managed it in round 1. Now for round 2 sometime soon.

    Bay - I agree.
  • Bay, LOVE the new sig pic.

  • Oh, his father is throwing fits because FI's best man and his wife and their FOUR MONTH OLD aren't staying in our condo the weekend of the wedding.  Because the spare bedroom is full of twelve boxes of vases, a wedding dress, all our favors and we're getting in 400$ worth of flowers the day that they are coming in, so we're turning that room into a cold room to keep them fresh...oh and also because THEY HAVE A FOUR MONTH OLD WHO IS TEETHING.

And apprarently his mother is still upset with me because when they were being rude at Easter, I got mad and told FI I wanted to leave and she overheard and said that her daughter's boyfriend's parents were offended by me and she's still waiting for an apology.  FI told her that she owes me an apology, not the reverse and she didn't like that too much.
  • No my FI is completely on board with us having pets at some point, it's just not practical for us right now.  I'm working 10-12 hours a day M-F plus volunteering half-days on Saturdays, he works 10 hours a day, and our apartment complex would charge us an arm and a leg if we got a pet ($500 yearly fee plus an extra $100/month in rent).  Basically, he's being completely practical and I am being a five year old about the whole thing.

  • Ugh Muni, that sucks. I'm so sorry you're dealing with that shiz. Fortunately I get along with my FILs
  • MUN - that stinks.  I don't blame you one bit for not having them stay with you. We had plenty of room, but still didn't invite anyone to stay with us (but we were lucky and no one tried to invite themselves either).
  • Poke - It's funny you said that, because I have to do it in rounds too... It's likely I'll probably have to do it a few more times before January because there are things I just can't get rid of the first time or two.

muni - That sucks and they're definitely being ridiculous, especially about the BM and his family thing. Plus, if I had a baby that young, I'd be anxious about staying with other people because I'd feel bad when the baby was crying.

  • I don't even understand why your FMIL thinks it's any of her business who is or isn't at your house. Nutty.
  • Also, MUN1, your FILs blow, but your FI sounds like a good guy to have in your corner with them around.

  • It would never occur to me to impose on a bride on her wedding weekend by trying to crash at her house...
  • Thanks, Girlie!

    MUN1, your FILs can EABOD.

  • Plus, I think that inviting yourself to stay with soon to be newly weds is crappy.

Angel - You're my pack rat sister!

Steph - That's a crazy amount to charge for a pet! I've only ever heard of a yearly fee.
