Hostess Gift

Hi ladies! You're advice is always so good, I thought I would get your opinion on this questions my fiance and I have.

My fiance's mother, aunt and sister have offered to host a couples shower for us. It is still a few months away but we are already thinking of our thank you/hostess gifts for each. His sister was married this past spring and still has some un-purchased items remaining on her wedding registry. Is is inappropriate to gift something from her registry as a hostess gift in this situation?

(Of course we will be giving his mother and aunt gifts as well, just have the specific question regarding her registry)

Re: Hostess Gift

  • I'd double check that she hasn't purchased the items herself already and just not checked them off the registry.  If she doesn't have them yet, I bet she'd be thrilled to receive them.

Once again, I will probably be told I'm way out of line, but I would by her somthing from her registry. I would also buy her something small but very heartfelt and personal and send them with a very personal thank you note.

I wouldn't have even thought about that -- good call -- otherwise I'm sure she'd love that!

  • Like PPs said, check to make sure she hasn't already purchased the item... but I would be thrilled to receive a gift off my registry post-wedding. There's no guessing if she will like it or not!

  • Thanks ladies! We were planning on e-mailing her husband (we live far from them) and asking him if she had picked up the item. We'd definitely add a more personal touch too- like a nice spice set or olive oil or something too.
