Do Bride's Parent's pay for Groom's Parent Album?

Hi All,

Many photography packages I've been looking at include 2 parent albums, but I wanted to know - Do the parents of the groom typically pay for their own album or is it a gift? Does it depend on who is paying for the wedding?

Thanks!

  • The bride's parents pay for what they feel like paying for and there is no obligation for them to pay for anything.

If it's already included in the package, why does it matter?

We're giving parent albums as gifts FWIW.

  • OOT and Arag both had good answers.

If the person paying for the photography (so not necessarily the bride's parents) choose the package they want to pay for.

If there's a parents album for the groom included and they're willing to pay for it then what's the problem?

  • Um, whoever pays for the photo package will be paying for the albums since they are included.......

  • We gave them as gifts to our parents.  But just a heads up.  It's much cheaper to just make your own off of Shutterfly, or the like.  Maybe then you could negotiate a cheaper price on the photography package.

Agreed. Plus our photog's parent album package is two that are identical to our album -- I'd rather make something custom for them with pictures of their side of the family.

  • We went the shutterfly route for the parent's albums as well.  They have hard covers that you can put one of your pictures on.  Just make sure the package you pick gives you all of your pictures on a disk.  We did do 2 identical albums for our parents, but we really only had minimal family at the wedding, so there really wasn't a need for 2 separate albums.

We also used a coupon code and got 40% off each book.  So for 2 books we paid less then $80 including shipping.  They also have a 100% satisfactory guarantee.  There were some pictures that got cropped funny at the seam, I complained and they gave us 2 new books free with the problem corrected.
  • It depends.  If it's part of the package than the person paying for the package would be paying.

If it's not part of a package then they can buy it themselves or someone can gift them the album.

There are no hard fast rules about it.

For us we paid for the package and gave each set of parents an album.
